Published Books
:

La pensée philosophique et théologique de Shahrastânî (m. 548/1153). Sainte-Foy (Québec): Presses de l'Université Laval, 1997.

Al-Shahrastânî (1086-1153) is recognized as an influential Muslim theologian and as an historian of religions. He was among the pioneers in using a scientific approach to the study of religions. He distinguished himself by his desire to describe in the most objective way the universal religious history of humanity.

This work is about the philosophical and theological thought of al-Shahrastani (1086-1153). Al-Shahrastani is recognised as an influential Muslim theologian and as an historian of religions. He was among the pioneers to use a scientific approach in the study of religions. He distinguished himself by his desire to describe in the most objective way the universal religious history of humanity.

Majlis discours sur l'Ordre et la création de Shahrastânî (m. 548/1153). Sainte-Foy (Québec): Les Presses de l'Université Laval, 1998.

This book is an annotated French translation of a work written in Persian (Majlis) by al-Shahrastani.

L'islam: les valeurs communes au judéo-christianisme. Montréal/Paris: Médiaspaul, 1999.

My book develops different themes of Muslim ethics such as: tolerance, brotherhood, faith, prayers, prophecy, justice, and death. For each topic, I highlight several concepts that Islam shares with the Bible, different Jewish and Christian traditions, and the apocryphal literature. My work insists on the common principles of the faith shared by these three monotheistic religions. It shows the affinities of Muslim ethics with Judeo-Christian ethics.
