Abstract: In this chapter, we do not claim to be exhaustive, we wish to briefly introduce the reader to essential Sûfî concepts by examining the following topics: i) the mystical roots of the Qur’ân, ii) mystical sayings attributed to Muhammad, iii) Muhammad's night journey, iv) an historical survey of some great Sûfîs, and v) some Sûfî orders.
