...make me...

For those of you that read and haven't heard already, I received a small promotion at work today. My supervisor named me his new "star agent". This basically means I get to supervise when he's not around. I'll get to coach other agents, be the go to guy when people have questions, listen to calls, fix punch clocks... fun stuff like that which doesn't involve taking calls! So it translates to "acting supervisor" which will fit in real nice on the resume.

Now, if you've been reading, you may wonder how exactly I ended up with this title? Well let me tell you. I did all my complaining *RIGHT HERE* and not at work, so I had a positive attitude. I also did everything that was asked of me. They said to improve in an area, I'd do my best to improve. They ask me to fill out some sheet after a call, I fill out the sheet. Whatever they asked of me. Also, my stats were one of the best of the team. And finally, the guy with way more sales than me, who probably should've gotten the position, had horrible stats. So the nod to me makes me so happy. Sure, it's not the raise I've been waiting for, but it should be leverage.

But on the other hand, this means more responsibility. I think I'm going to have to brush up on all the current temporary procedures and sales prices. Maybe I'll just go in early on Monday and review stuff like that. My inbox is flooded with e-mails with no order to them at all. My predecesor's inbox is tidy with e-mails sorted into relevant folders. He had his act together. I've got some boots to fill...

And since we all know how much I hate being on the phones, I got to do callbacks again today. Great way to waste a good portion of the day. I even managed to squeak a sale out today in 6 calls. For the record, that's good for me.

What could make the day better? How about some backwoods cigars? I bought a couple packs on my way to work today and I had the pleasure of enjoying a Honey 'n' Berries cigar during my first break. YUM!

So enough about work. My near future holds some non-work events. I'm finally going to get a haircut tomorrow. It's starting to get poofy and moppy, so it's time. I'm thinking of maybe getting a near brush cut and a little handlebar mustache with a pseudo vandyke to keep it company. A new look worth trying. Let's see how it'll work out!

Also, one of the older guys on my team apparently plays squash. Now, I think that's the sport my father's playing these days, so I'm going to try getting some games in with my co-worker and hopefully I'll be able to challenge my father to a game this summer during my vacation? We'll see how that unfolds...

I finally had an enjoyable day at work, but on the flip side, I had a headache. I don't think I can win. Anyway, I started my day with a team meeting. We wasted a good hour going over stuff. Can't argue with that. And then after a call or two, I was taken off the firstline queue and put on a special project! I got to call MSN Partner Support and make outbound calls to customers. Nothing like catching them off guard, giving them the news, and then asking if they had any technical questions. I talked to so many answering machines today! "You're e-mail's fixed." That's it that's all. Wee to that. It'll make this 4 day week slightly more bearable. After those 4 days it's a 3 day weekend. I can't wait for that.

But what about last weekend? The one that just passed? What about it? Well, it was busy. I went to a birthday party saturday night. It was awesome fun. The bar played music from the 90's which is fun to sing along to while your drunk. And I was. So very drunk. But that's ok, because I made money on Saturday too. My neighbours hired me to consult and install on a wireless network. So I got paid in food, beer AND money. Can't argue with that. Plus I got a walk out of it too, so I had a bit of excercise. All in all it was a complete day with little to not stop time.

Sunday on the otherhand was slightly slower. I woke up at 8 am for some reason unable to go back to sleep, so I walk upstairs and I drink a tall glass of water. I heard it was good for the sort of state I was in. Then I decide to stretch out on the couch. No sooner than I lie down and close my eyes, does a 7 year old decide to sleep on me. Beeing the best cousin in the world sucks at 8 am when you're hungover. But anyway, the day progressed slowly beyond that. Little bit of pizza action for the Sunday night post curling, and I mostly ignored the superbowl. During supper I got a phone call, which in itself was unusual because it came in on the land line. So it was probably important. I answered in a confused tone and I heard the girl next door on the line. She wanted to go book hunting at the university library because of some book she claimed to return that they could not find. I figured she'd be more comfortable with a man around because she's like that so I agreed. Darn sexy women who feel like they're going to be taken advantage of if they're alone. Well ok, it's a valid point... But anyway, as I'm saying I would join her on the hunt for the book, my uncle informs me I'm not allowed. Silly man. After an argument for show for the phone audience, I tell the girl next door I'm on my way in 5 minutes. As I'm hanging up my uncle makes the comment "I wish I was blond and had big breasts." Silly silly man. I'm not saying he's not completely right, just that he's silly.

So I think that's about it for my weekend. I umm, need sleep.
