...make me...

Once again, I am enjoying an elusive day off. It's only the second time I've done the weekend shift (2pm to midnight) and I must say, it certainly isn't enjoyable. The late night and the idiots that call... One perticular call had some "odd and erotic" sounds in the background. I can only imagine what he *NEEDED* his internet connection for at 11:30 PM. These people should just buy a damn magazine and call us in the morning. Serioulsy. If your internet isn't working at 11:30 PM at night, it's hardly an emergency. I don't care if you need to close escrow in japan for some important business stuff. I don't. Your stupid problem for not being in Japan in the same time zone. We provide the internet, if you mess it up, boo hoo I can't get you online if your computer can't go online. Do you blame the gas company if there's a fuel line blockage caused by you not putting your gas cap on your car? NO! And I love the people who expect me to get them online with dial-up until their high speed is installed, but they don't have a dial up modem, and then threaten to change internet providers. They're none too bright these people. D-uh, what's the interweb thingy I keep hearing about. Would you like an apple pie with that? Yes, these are the type of people I feel call me on a regular basis. Kind of makes you feel smug and superior to the general masses really. Look everybody, I know how to put my pants on, see the trick of it is to do it right. No, Pedro, you do not put your feet into the let holes, you put one leg in at a time. Geez. ANYWAY! I seem to gripe a lot about the people who do call and make me wonder how they can tie their shoes... But I do get the occasional call where the person is either pleasent or cooperative. Those make my day. Also makes me forget all the stupid targets like average handle time and stuff like that. I won't mind going the extra minute for a customer if they seem nice. Like last night, one guy called in for a 691 error. A simple change of password and he would've been on his way. But no, I asked if he had installed the MSN Premium yet. Or his anti-virus/firewall. He hadn't. Now I didn't want him running into problems trying to install these things and call us back and getting frustrated, so I took the time to install all these things for him and he seemed happier for it. Good for him. Too bad I couldn't stretch that call any longer. See, I work until 10, but when 10 comes around I can't just hang up and leave. Sometimes I wish I could, but I can't. I have to catch my bus at 10:15 to catch a bus heading east so I can catch my local bus at 10:45 so I can get home at 11. If I miss that one bus at 10:15, I'm not getting home until 12 or later!

This is why I hate stupid people. You feel like I should be able to give you 5 minutes of my time? Well it's really more than that, inconsiderate people. But hey, I've caught my bus so I haven't been late getting home. Mainly because if my last call is within ten minutes of my shift end, I just go on personal. I don't want to miss my bus. And we already missed our SLA for the month, so it's not going to help anything by taking that call sooner. Screw the customer. It's not like the help desk closes at 10 and I was their last hope of getting online tonight. And still I say again to these people. Go to bed, go watch TV, go outside, go somewhere else! You broke your internet, stop trying to use it!

Well, it's my day off, and I don't want to think about work anymore, so I'm going to turn on some tunes and clean up the place a bit. Should be fun.

Where is the bell? Wait for the bell. Can't hear the bell. Where is the bell?

Ding fries are done!!!
