Poetry is something that
speaks to our hearts, it reaches inside of us and sometimes it expresses
for us that which we could not find words for ourselves. Writing poetry,
in my experience, has never been a conscious effort. Rather, the poems
sometimes express emotions I didn't even realize I felt, but once
written, I feel better having expressed them. Sometimes, I find the
poetry tells me the truth about something that I only see long after the
words are written. I can only hope that in sharing my words, they will
touch you in some way and, perhaps, make a difference in your life.
Events and people in our lives have an impact which sometimes can only
truly be felt by the words they inspire. To all those who have inspired
me, thank you.

"When
power leads man toward arrogance, poetry reminds him of his
limitations. When power narrows the areas of man's concern, poetry
reminds him of the richness and diversity of his existence. When
power corrupts, poetry cleanses, for art establishes the basic human
truths which must serve as the touchstone of our judgement."

These candles burn in memory of Christine - my niece, my sister, my best friend. Rest in the arms of angels Chris, you will live in my heart forever. |
