Behold The Sun   Beginning To End

Winter began early this year   The start of a new year
coldness gripped my very soul.   the dawn of a new millenium
The snow muffles all the sound,   a time for new beginnings
the cold quiet deafens me.   a slate wiped clean.

Darkness comes early each day,   But shadows on the slate
night is such a lonely time.   still show through
Where noisy activity was the norm,   and the heart remembers
silence echoes back at me.   bittersweet memories.

But, faith, precarious as it is,   The old year still lingers
keeps me strong and sure.   like the snow on the ground
Someday the sun will return   the chill in my heart
and gently warm us once again.   travels through to my soul.

Light and warmth to renew us,   Listen...
songs to revive our sleeping souls,   I hear drops falling
voices that fill all the silence,   the sun melts some snow
sunlight to brighten all our days.   I have hope for the spring.

  Mommy May I?

  Mommy may I?
  I hear a thousand times
  Tell me one more story
  and then some nursery rhymes.

  Mom can I?
  I hear a thousand more
"I'm going out to play now"
then the slamming of the door.

  Mother can you?
It just goes on and on
"Drop me at the high school dance"
  and then - POOF! - you're gone.

  "Mom, I'm getting married."
  "Mom, I have a son."
"Mom, we'll come to visit soon
when all our work is done."

The years pass oh so quickly
So before this all comes true
I think I'll stay here by your crib
and spend some time with you.

These candles burn in memory of Christine - my niece, my sister, my best friend.  Rest in the arms of angels Chris, you will live in my heart forever.
