He married 1 January 1850, Orinda F. Hurd, who was born 7 June 1824, Southbury, Connecticut, and died 26 April 1896. In the 1850 census they were living in Southbury, New Haven County, Connecticut, with Orinda's mother, Esther, age 70; Charles was a joiner by occupation.
