1052 John H., b. ca 1821; d. after the 1850 census. It has been said John died while still a minor. In the 1850 census of Seymour, New Haven Co., CT, is Abby D. Oatman, 48, John's stepmother; John H., 19, a clerk; and Lucinda T. Spencer, 38, probably a sister or sister-in-law of Abby. After his mother's death, the property which John had received from his father was said to be divided among the following:
Henry B. Oatman; Horace Oatman; David Oatman; Sally Nichols; Polly Nash; Jane Smith; and the heirs of Caroline Smith.
