Edward (Elias, Benjamin, George, John, Johannes), son of Elias and Eliza (Bunce) Oatman, was born December 1827/28 in Jefferson County, New York, and died in 1912. His gravestone is said to give his birth year as 1839, but census records indicate that is incorrect. He and his wife are both buried in State Road (Honeyville) Cemetery, Adams Center, New York.
Edward was a farmer and a lawyer. He married, ca 1858, Phila A., daughter of Richard Carlton and Prudence (Smith) Parker. Phila was born September 1837 in Canada and died at age 74, about 15 August 1912; her funeral was held 16 August 1912. She was born in Canada in 1837.
