What Wave Issue 20

ww20.jpg (31115 bytes)

Published in August 1991 with yet another tape, this time called 'The 8th Wonder'. Cover art once again by the infamous Darren Merinuk. 84 jam packed pages of trash and coolness.

Interviews this time with Uncle Sam, Dark Carnival, Positively Stompin', Painted Ship and Manitoba's Wild Kingdom. Articles on London in the 80's, another benefit, Johnny Thunders (thanx Dave Whitehead), Fleshtones, French scene (thanx Fils Simpson), horror flix, Pooh Sticks (thanx Mike White), Steve Kowalski, Sex Pistols, Gordie Gordo and the G-Men, 60's garage trivia, The Cunts, The A-Bones, 9 Pound Hammer, The Mono Men, The Cynics, Vancouver scene (thanx Lyn Hague), Frankenstein 5, Platterpuss (thanx Jeff Shore) and WW's fave records of the 80's.

Our top pick for LP of the 80's went to The Lyres for 'On Fyre', a record I still love to this day. Some of the other records in the top 29 were: Gun Club 'Fire Of Love', Cynics ' Blue Train Station' and '12 Flights Up', Fleshtones 'Roman Gods' and 'Hexbreaker', Mad Daddys 'Music For Men', Cramps 'Psychedelic Jungle' and 'Smell Of Female', UIC 'Our Garage' and a pile of other cool releases. Obviously there was a TON of cool records that came out in the 80's. This issue is long out of print.
