Audition Songs The songs don't work yet, but I will have them up. I just thought you should be able to see your comments. Here you go! Chris Don't Cry Out Loud Matt – I thought that was pretty good. I think you have a really nice voice, and you could go far in this competition if you work at it. Good job! Kelly - It's alright. You were flat for the first few notes but then you got better. You have a nice voice and it sounds good, but to be a professional, I think that vocal lessons would make you sound awesome. I can hear potential, but the proper vocal lessons might help. Also, unless you are going for a 'Broadway' sound, the vocal lessons could fine tune which direction in music you want to pursue...like if you want to go Broadway, they can direct you that way, but if you want to hit the music charts, it'll direct you that way. Tommy I Believe Matt - Hmm…well, it’s not the best I have heard…You kind of forgot some of the words at the beginning of the song. I think you need to work on your breathing…there was too much breathing into the mic. But I’m sure with more singing you will get better and learn not to do that so much. When you said “for this moment to arrive”, you didn’t really say the words “for this”, you kind of whispered it, it kinda sounded like a breath. Kelly - Are you a guy or girl? If you’re a girl, just sing with your regular voice, not your head register. If you’re a guy…don’t sing. Jordan Don't Play That Song Matt – Wow…I liked that. I think you have a lot of potential in this competition. I agree with Kelly and it did sound a bit like you were shouting, but whatever, you’re the best I’ve heard so far. Kelly - Sounds Broadway cross opera. Sounds like you’re shouting. Cut down on projection and just sing it in a regular voice. Probably the best voice I’ve heard so far with these clips. Ross I Want It That Way Matt – I have heard you in other competitions. I don’t know if I like how you go so deep…but overall it was good, you have a nice voice. Kelly - I love the song. BSB are my fave. Your voice is nice, but maybe cut down on the vibrato. With lessons, you’d be pretty good. I like how you have a deep voice. Rather uncommon these days. Christan Last Kiss Matt – That was alright for me. It wasn’t very wow for me…but you do have potential. It was a little shaky in places. Kelly - It doesn’t sound like a serious clip. It’s alright. The changes in key could be a lot smoother, they sound almost wobbly. With more work, you’d be alright. I can hear a bit of Ryan Malcolm’s style in it, and it must be from the Blue Rodeo influence. Anthony Give It All Away Matt – I don’t know this song that well. I didn’t even know the title until I asked you. So it’s hard for me to judge a song that I don’t know. It was kind of boring for me too. One word describes it for me “meh”. It didn’t blow me away. Kelly - And you say I suck? Remember that guy on American Idol who sang “and I want you by my side, girl you’re gonna be….” whatever it was? He wore blue track pants and a muscle shirt and a blue bandana. Is that you? Lauren Love Sneaking Up On You Matt – I loved it! I love the song, and I loved the voice!! It’s one of my favorites of the auditions we have received. I think you have tons of potential and you could do very well in this competition! Kelly - I like it. You may have an advantage being the only girl so far. I like your sound. With lessons for control and stuff, you’d sound really nice. Catchy song too. Stephanie All I Need Is You Matt – It wasn’t bad. I actually liked it. Nice voice, nice girl…good job. Kelly - I think the song was a bad choice, because it doesn’t really show what you’re probably able to do. The sound of your voice is nice but this song just doesn’t show your ability. I’m thinking that you’ll make it through. My advice…pick a slower song, or one that can showcase you. Matthew Measure Of A Man Matt - We share the name and you make the name proud. That was pretty good, it was sort of fuzzy, but that can be fixed. I don’t know how far you will go, but I think it was good. Kelly - I love Clay! It’s a bit shaky and kinda difficult to hear, but I like it. Rather than trying to reach for the higher notes, put more power into the closest note that you can reach. Projection on a note you can hit is better than reaching for a note that you can’t reach. Holly Beautiful Disaster Matt – Kelly Clarkson…horray…my favorite! The voice is there, the emotion is there, and the energy is there. It was great for me…I could listen to more. Kelly - Wow, you certainly sound like you want this! The sound of your voice is different, but nice. With work you’d have a unique sound. It sounds like you’re singing with your chest register, but at the end its softer and sounds like it’s coming more from your head register. I like the head register better. Try to find a song where you use that more, it sounds good. Thomas This Is It Matt – I like your voice. I don’t know if the energy is completely there, but overall it was good. Kelly - It’s very high. You’re 13 so that may still change. But I like it. One of the better guy voices that have auditioned. I know I’ve said it a lot, but with work, you’d sound pretty good. Myke Ben Matt – I hope this is an altered version of the song…because if that’s your voice…oh my… Kelly - Dude, that sounds pretty much like the original “Ben,” but altered…Hmmm. Not sure what to say. The voice doesn’t suit the picture at all. Not sure really what to think about it.
