What Wave Issue 10

Still keeping up a hectic publishing schedule, this sucker came out in June 1986 and came with our 1st of many cassettes, this one called 'Wave From The Grave'. What we were trying to do was expose all of the readers to the sounds that we were screaming and ranting about in the pages of this zine. We talked to a pile of bands about contributing a song or 2, and lo and behold, almost all of the bands came through with some great tunes. Not knowing much about duplicating tapes, Gerard from Deja Voodoo suggested hooking up about half a dozen cassette decks together and making multiple copies of the tape at the same time. He said that that was the way Deja Voodoo did their 1st cassette, Gumbo. So, we went and borrowed some cassette decks and after some experimenting, we were able to make 500 copies of this tape, and still keep part of our sanity!

This issue had an amazing cover by Oshawa artist Mike Lodge. This cover was later used to make the infamous WW shirt that people are still asking about to this day, and yes they are sold out, never to be repeated again. At the time many people thought that the cover picture was supposed to be a caricature of me, not so, although I did sport a bowl and iron cross back in those days.

This ish featured interviews with Hasil Adkins, Sci-phonics (London's coolest band), A-Bones, Das Furlines (a Monks inspired all girl band), Dundrells, Fleshtones , Smithereens (right before they became REAL big), Plan 9, Chesterfield Kings, Gruesomes and Dwarves. Articles on Cub Koda, Zulu Records, Dik Van Dykes, Monstereos, French scene (by international correspondent Nicolas Bouchard), Pandoras (when they thought they were rock stars, right before they went metal) and OG Easter Weekend report. Long out of print.
