Bare Facts: Female ~ Born est.1937 ~ Died 1982 ~ Mother Unknown ~ Father Unknown ~ Children C1, Ivory ~ ID Unknown

C4 was not a very well-known whale. Researchers estimate that she was born around 1937, making her around 40 at the time the study began. When she was first seen, she was travelling with her two brothers Booker and C7, as well as her son C1, her daughter Ivory and her grandkid Weynton. She stayed away from the main research area, so while her family was ID'd early on, they weren't seen as much as other pods like A and D pods.
Her son didn't like boats very much, keeping a safe distance from them. It's entirely possible the family had been involved in a capture attempt years earlier. C4 was a strong matriarch who kept her family close and in line. In 1975, her granddaughter was born, and 4 years later, her third grandchild was born.
When she was around the age of 45, she passed away. While she was by no means young, she also wasn't very old, so we'll probably never know what killed her. Two years before her death, her son passed away as well. However, she is survived by her daughter, her 3 grandchildren, and her 4 great-grandchildren.
