The Lincolnshire Poacher
25 Oct 2003
The Railway Touring Company arranged a tour of unusual lines in Lincolnshire, hauled by 61264. The train started at Knig's Cross, and 61264 took over at Grantham. Because of a driver not turning up earlier, we left grantham about 2 hours late, and although this fluctuated during the day, it remained around that time. From Grantham we travelled though Nottingham, Sheffield, Worksop, Retford, Bartnetby, Immingham docks, Barnetby,Lincoln to Newark, where the electric engine took over. However, by the time the train reached the Immingham area it was too dark to see the industrial area,; similalrly the barnetby to Lincoln section was also in the dark, a part of the journey I particularly wanted to see.
