The PBGs' Path
Come on my Journey with the Pop Bottle Gods

Well PBGers, I know it is a little late, but here is the newsletter you've been waiting for. May has come and gone in a flash. Looking for work sucks. There is some positive news, however. Early in June, Monica applied for a job through a contact at our church and got full time employment with the City of Edmonton. It has been a bit of a change-over for us as I have been looking after things at home and picking Amber up from school while she is riding the bus to work early in the morning and working all day long.

It is taking some getting used to. As the summer is coming on, my involvement with the Church is diminishing too. Boy's Group is over until the fall, Stewardship is over (and was pretty successful too). I was thinking about becoming a run leader for a friends 1/2 marathon clinic. That sounds like fun. I will be running in the Edmonton Marathon in August and I think it will be my best ever. I am training very hard for it.

During the month of May, Blogger was purchased by Google, the internet's most popular search engine. After a brief period, Blogger changed its look and also offered a bunch of new template for web pages. I liked the new look and the cleaned up template html code, so I switched over to my own new look. Let me know what you think.

My conversation with Ron Shank has deepened and broadened. Unfortunately, I get the feeling that it is also boring you, my faithful readers. I think we have said about all we can without repeating ourselves, so I hope I can get the blog back on track and post about more PBGish things. I am also running more on my own now that my two running buddies are injured.

The posts in May seem to be all over the map. I hope you will find some of them interesting. If you have the time, you can follow some of the links and see what interests me on the web. If you don't feel comfortable posting a comment that everyone will be able to read, please feel free to send me an email.

As you may know, Mo and I have a long history of going to the Folk Festival. Christine Lavin is one of the 'Folkies' we have purchased and the kids seem to like her too. We were playing one of her more recent CDs and encountered this song.

Mo pointed this site out to me and, dutyful husband and father that I am, I logged it for later use. I made her chocolate stuffed French Toast for Mothers day. She felt pampered, and that was what I was going for. GO MOM.

On the internet you meet (and communicate sometimes) people you would never associate with in Real Life (RL). In the case of Nikki P, I am not sure she would give me the time of day. She has a sharp 'tounge' and isn't afraid to us it. I am not sure what keeps me coming back, but it is probably her writing ability and utter distain for other people. I am glad she isn't breating down my neck!

People run marathons all the time. People blog about running marathons too. Many runners (and bloggers) run out of steam for their race (or blog) after a short time. I hope to continue both. I would like to give encouragement to others. Hopefully someone will gain from my experiences that I try to document.

This little ditty came from the PBGs on a rare (recently) run I did on my own. I could easily be worried about my future or be angry at what happend in my past, but the only time I can enjoy, plan and act is in the present.

I was a little stunned my Ron's association of the downfall of the USA from show of support for Gay couples and the Same Sex Marridges. He gave a little definition thingy on his site, so I posted one too. This quote is taken directly from Dictionary.com and, I thought, appropriate.

Ron objected to me calling him intolerant. The conversation continues here.

We took our conversation off to email and chat and hammered things out a bit. This table and the comments attached is what I thought we had discovered from our conversations.

Announcement of starting Neal's Marathon training program. Interestingly enough, both of my running partners are off the program due to injuries. I am running alone. I think it is going to be a hard training program to stick to. I have completed two weeks so far

Note that I have you in my list because you have expressed an interest in my writing. If you want to be removed, please let me know. I'll honour your request and I promise not to sell your address to anybody.
