Birth1: Obit: age 90 years, beloved husband of the late Annie May Van Horn of Meldrum Bay, Dear father of Reid of Meldrum Bay, Melvin of Gore Bay, Wallace of Silverwater and Gerta of Hamilton, predeceased by Irene, Stuart and Lyle. He rested at the Turner Runeral Home, Gore Bay. Funeral services were held on Monday, July 30 at 2 pm in Meldrum Bay United Church. Interment took place at Meldrum Bay Cemetery.
General: A story my mother (Mae Van Horn) told to me when remembering Uncle Bill was that he weighed only about 1 1/2 pounds when he was born, and to keep him alive they put him in a large matchbox with cotton wool, feed him with an eyedropper and laid him on the open wood stove door keeping him warm, acting like a incubator. Another story Mae told me about her Uncle Bill and Aunt Annie was that when her family would visit them, when Mae was a child, was that her Aunt Annie would always offer bread and jam to them. Mae regarded this as a very nice treat because everyone then had a hard time making ends meet and Aunt Annie made her feel special.
I remember meeting my Great Uncle Bill, early in the sixtys, when I was a very young teenager, to me he was a very pleasant man to be around.
