1804
On December 24th, William and Joanna had their two sons, William and John, christened at Stoke Damerel, Devon, England. At the time William was 15 years old and John was 10 years old.

1810
William Togget, born 5 September 1789, married Matilda Augusta Thompson at the Parish Church of Stoke Damerel, Devon, England. They would have 4 children. Josiah Thompson, William Thompson, Matilda Mary and Henry.

1814
On December 26th, William and Matilda were residents in Hampshire, England noted on the baptismal records of their two oldest sons at St. Maurice's Church in Winchester.

1819
It is thought that it was John, son of William and Joanna Taggett, who moved to Westminster, London, and on January 18, 1819 married Hannah Kemp.

1821
It is further believe that it was John, son of William and Joanna Taggett, who on September 12th stood on trial at the Old Bailey in London.

1823
September 15th. The Burial Book for Stoke Damerel includes Joanna Taggett, a resident of the Work House, age 66.

Page 217 of the Tourist's Companion - A Guide to the towns of Plymouth, Plymouth - Dock, Stonehouse, Morice Town and Stoke includes William Taggett, school master. Resident at James St. Ope. East.

1836
May 22nd. Grace Moon married Thomas Spiller. They would have 3 children. Thomas, Patience and William Anthony.

Exactly 4 months later on September 22nd William Thompson Taggett, son of William Taggett and Matilda Augusta Thompson married Elizabeth Martin at the Parish Church of Stoke Damerel in Devon, England. No further trace can be found of this couple.

1837
October 23rd. John Tagget, who had arrived aboard the "Guildford" in 1824, was granted a Freedom Certificate in Australia.

December 3rd. Josiah Thompson Taggett, son of William Taggett and Matilda Augusta Thompson, married Mary Ann Mathews with whom he would have 4 children. Jane, William, Henry and Frederick.

1838
June 11th. Hannah Taggett remarried at Saint James Church of England, Westminster, London, England

1841
The Census includes William (school master) and Matilda (school mistress) as residents of Cornwall. The two younger children (Matilda and Henry) were still living at home and employed as Tin Dressers.

Jane, daughter of Josiah and Mary was with her maternal grandfather John Mathews at Pencaro Mills, East-Cornwall. Her mother (Mary Ann) had the two younger children (William and Henry) at home, and was pregnant with rederick.

1842
Thomas Spiller, son of William Spiller and Christiana Teague, the husband of Grace Moon, died on September 25th.

1844
May 5th. Mary Ann Mathews, wife of Josiah Thompson Taggett, died. Twenty-six days later Frederick, the youngest son of Josiah Thompson Taggett and Mary Ann Mathews was also buried.

Matilda Mary, daughter of William and Matilda, married Joseph Hicks with whom she would have 6 children. Joseph William, William, Mary Matilda, Thomas (x 2) and Frederick.

1845
August 30th. Josiah married Grace Moon Spiller. Josiah and Grace would have 8 children: Emma, Strawberry, Mary Moon, John Thompson, Matilda, Strawberry Elizabeth, George and Amelia Grace.

1849
Henry, youngest son of William and Matilda married Eliza Francis. Their first two children, Lavinia and William were born in Redruth.

1852
April. Henry Taggett his wife Eliza Francis and children; his sister Matilda and her family boarded the "Augusta Schneider" and set sail for Australia. Known relatives to accompany them were Eliza's brother Henry Francis and his wife the former Nanny Sincock. They arrived in Melbourne on August 19th.

1853
November 7th. Elizabeth Jane, youngest daughter of Henry Taggett and Eliza Francis, was born on November at Forest Creek, Victoria, Australia.

Henry Tagget's name appears on the Bendingo Goldfields Petition signed by over 5000 diggers on the Victoria goldfields

HY TAGGART, age 28, was among the passengers who boarded the “Union” sailing for Hobartown, Tasmania in August.

1854
Eliza Francis, wife of Henry Taggett, fell down a water hole and died from the injuries she received on 16 February.

The marriage certificate of Lavinia would show that she had become the legal ward of her uncle, Henry Francis. William Henry, her brother remained in Victoria. No record of the whereabouts of the youngest (Elizabeth Jane), who was only 3 months old at the time of her mothers death, has ever been located.

1857:
In December Matilda, her husband Joseph Hicks and children returned to England on board the “Morning Light.” Matilda’s mother was not well at the time and this may very well be among the reason she decided to return to England.

1858:
Joseph Hicks returned to Victoria, Australia aboard the “Saldanha” in September. Matilda remained in Cornwall with the children.

1860:
June 7th. Matilda Augusta Thompson Taggett, the matriarch of the family died and was buried at Bodmin Cornwall.

1868:
On May 28th. Henry Taggett, son of William and Matilda, a widower, married Louisa Orchard at Woodside, South Australia. They would have 5 children. Eliza, Josiah, Matilda Mary, Mark Orchard and William Henry Orchard.

1870:
December 10th. William Taggett,age 79, son of William and Johanna and husband of Matilda Augusta Thompson died from injuries received during a fall at Bullers Terrace in Redruth, Cornwall, England.

1874:
July 1st. Matilda Hicks, daughter of William and Matilda, died at Redruth, Cornwall, England. Three months later her husband Joseph Hicks, died at Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.
