Currently Resides: South Palgrave, Ontario, Canada

Status: Alternate Captain

Height: 6'0

Weight: 170 lbs.

HISTORY
First burst onto the SGHA scene in early fall of 2000. Was quickly acquired by the Crazy Train, in a mid season signing that caused several to question the methods of CT Captain McIntosh. Most thought the insertion of Russell into the line-up so quickly would leave the CT vulnerable to the seasoned veterans of the Gamblers. This was not the case. The doubters had underestimated the skill and savvy of this new star.

Russell's skills were first developed on the mean streets of Oakville, ON. during numerous hours of some of the fiercest street hockey ever known to that area. It was on these very streets that he developed the intensity needed to survive in the SGHA. Russell's hockey career appeared to be in turmoil after moving to Bolton and eventually playing for the perennial bottom-feeders of Ontario Rep Hockey- the Caledon Hawks. He played street hockey in Palgrave School, as well as several classic battles with Jimmy Boileu and Davey Boy Simonetta, and it was after complete and utter domination of all challengers in Palgrave that Russell was called up to the big leagues- the SGHA.

Known For: Clutch Play. Not only at the CBHL Hall of Fame Game, but the Fall Brawl- War Games as well. Scoring an enormous overtime goal in game one of the Fall Brawl on one of the great shots in SGHA history.

A tremendous two-way player, capable of adapting to either a defensive or offensive role depending on the situation. Excellent shooting skills, with the ability to regularly score on long-range bombs. A brilliant tactician, credited with inventing the vaunted, and top-secret, "Triangulation" defence which has become a CT Trademark. White Nike Fedorov style skates are his trademark, despite the claims of being a "pretty-boy" by the Gamblers, Russell has proven his toughness in late game situations. Spectacular passing skills compliment the speedy play of sniper McIntosh. Also known for having some of the finest gloves in SGHA, "the Black Bandits", which enable his superior puck handling and passing skills. Always an innovator when it comes to equipment, Russell is rumoured to have an ace up his sleeve as this season approaches.

Nickname originates from the fact that he is the Reigning and undisputed King of all that is road hockey in his native Palgrave.

Favourite Players: Shayne Corson, Gary Roberts, Mats Sundin

Least Favourite players: Marian Hossa, Donald Brashear, Washington Capitals punisher.jpg (16153 bytes)

Signature Move: UNKNOWN - There are rumours around the League that The Reign Man is in development of a signature move so devastating that it is in violation with several accepted laws of science. For the record, Crazy Train management has denied this "secret move" even exists, yet there are reports that testing is already underway at an undisclosed location somewhere in the Palgrave badlands. When unveiled, this move promises to significantly change the face of SGHA hockey forever, and may result in rules banning it's very existence. Stay Tuned......

Weakness: Known around the league for being without doubt, the absolute worst when play moves onto the grass that surrounds the court, whether it be standing or handling the ball. Below average slap-shot. Has developed quite a distaste for Future Look Defrancescho, and is often driven into a rage by the mere sight of him, which negatively affects his play. Skates may be one size too small. Persistent trade rumours may affect his play.

Words to Live By:

"You know, I'm just going out there trying to give 110%. You wanna play well, you hope you play well, and all you can do is go out there and play balls-out, no hold-barred hockey. That's a thing I learned from the late Donnie Reid, the greatest coach in Caledon Hawk history. I think I can fit in well within the structure of this team"

-- Russell, commenting during his press conference announcing his long-term deal with the Crazy Train.

" You don't go out and say something like that, period. It was a stupid and ignorant comment, and will only fuel our intensity. The Gamblers have made a big mistake. They will pay for it dearly."

- Russell commenting on the most outrageous prediction in SGHA history, when Gambler GM "the Pitboss" stated the Gamblers will win "every game 10-5" with the addition of the Outsider.
