Oh, it's a lovely thing, being dead.... OK, so you find yourself in the body of DOD reaper Manuel "Manny" Calavera, an increasingly bitter guy who has real issues with his employer. He's supposed to work off his debt to the powers that be by working for the DOD (short for the Department of Death), distributing travel packages among the recently dead who were relatively well-behaved in life. The better his sales, the sooner he gets out of the Land of the Dead.
So WHY isn't he getting any good sales?!
Futhermore, why is his rival salesman Domino getting ALL the good sales?!
While Manny is sending the drudges of the world on their way parcel post, Domino is selling train tickets (the fastest way OUT of the Land of the Dead) to nuns! What the hell is going on?!
And why did the client Manny stole from Domino, who's bio says she's practically a saint, didn't qualify for a package according to Manny's data?! And now, she (Mercedes Colomar) is wandering alone across the dangerous route to the afterlife.
This starts Manny off on an epic journey across the Land of the Dead to do three things: find Mercedes, bring down the corruption in the DOD, and get the hell out yourself. And if he has to get past flaming beavers, blackmail corrupt lawyers, and hang out with a speed demon, then that's what he's gonna do.
