Trembly

Trembly is going to be a 60 poung Lightweight robot for the upcoming Warbots Xtreme event in November. Since this is my first time attempting to build something over three pounds, the plan is to keep it as simple as possible.

The design is a simple four wheel drive pushybot with a large hinged wedge on front. The frame will be contructed of mostly 1/4 and 1/2" Lexan as well as steel for supports and the wedge.

Shown here is 3 of the 18V drill motors I'm going to use and a pair of 4" x 2" wheels that will drive the bot.

I'm also using some fairly simple clamp mounts made out of 3/8" UHMW. (two mounts per motor)

Speed controllers will be a pair of IFI Thor controllers, one for each side of the drive. I also need to get a new 24V NiMH pack in to replace the lame drill motor packs that I already have.

Heres a really quick drive platform I built to test the Thors.

Real contruction will begin soon.

Nov. 24/04- Actual progress!

Sort of a mockup for what the bot will look like.

The hubs/wheels with motors we had lathed up.

The nearly completed box frame, wedges and spiky things will be added later.

The internals and the baseplate.

Couple shots of the completed frame, still have to add a back wedge.
