The 500-year mark has been passed in the combined

The record is now claimed by the seven Howells

514 years.
The names and ages of the sisters - who are all
married - are;
Mrs. Emily Tanner of Southport, aged 86,
Mrs. Delia Reynolds, Newport 80,
Mrs. Milly Williams, Cwmbran 74,
Mrs. Kate Griffiths, Newport 72,

Mrs. Maud Chappell, Cwmbran 64
another sister, Elizabeth, died last year aged 80.

There are also two brothers "aged between seventy
and eighty" in the family. They are Mr. Willie
Howells, who is in South Africa, and Mr. Tom
Howells who lives in Canada.
Their mother - Mrs. Howells - kept the Mount
Pleasant Inn, at Cwmbran for many years, and she
was 91 when she died.

--------end of the column article----------

The original newspaper article "Over 500"
is orange with age and the ink is so faded that
it would not copy, and there is no date on it.
By adding the given ages and their known
birth dates, the newspaper article was written
in 1953. Also, the ages given above are 5 years
older than the ages given in the 1948 South
Wales Weekly Argus.
In 1953, Tom (Thomas Charles) Howells was 78 in
Canada and Willie (William) Howells was 66 in
South Africa.
There were two more brothers, Charles was killed
in action in France 1917 and Albert David died
in June, 1891 (age 4 months).
"Their mother - Mrs. Howells" was Delia, known as
"Gran Howells", formerly Davies nee Williams,
born Apr.6,1848, died Oct.18,1936, age 88 1/2.
