This image appeared as the January 2000 "Bird of the Month" on the fine Australian website "Parrot Place Australia". But the site seems no longer to be "on the air". Also known (in Australia) as the quarrion or cockatoo parrot, the adult bird reaches 12 to 13 inches long, and in its wild colour and form, inhabits woodlands and open grasslands in most of Australia.
