This striking image was taken by photographer Wolfgang Drung in Mali in West Africa. I found the original first on a Russian "photo critique" website on which Wolfgang had posted a number of his wonderful images. And then I found his images on an English language critique site also. To me his image is simply superb! You can visit Wolfgang's image listings right here. The original image is not posted there today, however.
There was, of course, no "mirage" in the original image. But the "Lake Applet" and desert images go well together particularly so with this astounding image. Thank you so much, Wolfgang, for granting permission for use here.
