Monkeys

Monkeys are neat, a cool primate,
Not something you’d want as a prom date
Monkeys are big, and also very strong,
And one of their relatives is the big King Kong

I love to watch them swing in the trees,
Gently disturbing the cool breeze
They love to eat bananas, leaving many peels
They have so many of these small meals!

Now you may want to know why I care,
About these creatures made of much hair
I like monkeys because they’re so cool,
They make other animals look like fools!

Monkeys are special with their opposable thumbs,
And some being able to do simple sums
They are so ludicrously funky!
Now that’s why I love monkeys!

The 54th Massachusetts Regiment

The 54th was a valiant group,
Fighting despite all the hate,
Eating moldy bread and old soup,
And mingling with their country’s fate.

They fought long and hard,
Through the swamps and the grass,
Fort Wagner was under heavy guard,
And its defenders would not them pass.

But finally they breeched its walls,
As Wagner was hit with their guns.
They watched the confederacy take a fall,
And saw the rising of the Union sun.

They took Charleston with little fight,
They said, “We’ll sleep in Charleston tonight!”
The Unions future was very bright,
And the 54th was quite a sight!

Despite losing many men,
The 54th was a formidable force.
Fighting as hard as 1,000 men can,
And giving the South much remorse.

The 54th helped free the slaves,
They helped make the country fair,
Fighting like 10,000 Indian Braves,
And making the Confederates glare.

The Hobbit
Bilbo and the thirteen dwarves,
Left Bag End one day.
To take back their treasure galore,
Which a dragon had stolen away.

They passed over fields crumbled and torn,
They overcame mountains and rivers.
They met a magical man named Beorn,
Who at first gave them the shivers.

They came across a goblin cave,
And were separated by the King.
Bilbo met a creature who craved,
A magical golden ring.

The ring made Bilbo disappear,
It baffled his fellows at first.
He could creep invisible and then appear,
Bilbo loved it, yet the ring was accursed.

The fellowship journeyed on,
Toward the land of Smaug.
They walked endlessly from dawn to dawn,
Through the constant rain and fog.

When they reached their perilous goal,
A mountain very big and steep.
They found that Smaug was in control,
On his pile of jewels, asleep.

They worked their way up the giant hill.
Until they reached the top.
They were perched on Smaug’s window sill;
He could reach them with a chop.

After Smaug had flown in rage,
The fellowship frolicked in the treasure.
To them they had Smaug in a cage,
And lived their lives with pleasure.

But shortly after Smaug attacked a town,
Leaving destruction in his wake.
He was shot down by the village clown,
And that sure baked the cake.

The fellowship returned home,
Laden with all their treasure,
Smaug was no longer on the roam,
And Bilbo was pleased beyond measure!
