Nahwitti (A56) is the youngest of Yakat(A11)'s children. She was born in 1990. Her mother is Yakat and her father is Nigei (R3).
Nahwitti is the only one of Yakat's children who didn't witness the dramatic events of 1983. She's also the only one who was born after Kelsey and Yakat began to separate.
Nahwitti's most likely playmate, growing up, was her niece Racey (A59), who was only two years younger than her.
When Nahwitti was nine, her sister Skagit and Skagit's children/grandchildren began to break away from the family. Now, they often travel separate. It is common now to see Nahwitti traveling just with her mother Yakat and her brother Skeena. The three of them have become fairly close.
Nahwitti is now at the age (15) when many orcas have their first calves. She has, actually, already displayed her motherly talents. When Springer (A73-the wayward orphan orca) showed up at their doorstep, Nahwitti took her in like her own daughter. Assisted a bit by Yakat, Nahwitti has been taking care of Springer for a while now. She even went out of her way to stop Springer from approaching boats. She certainly seems like she'll be a good mother when she has her own calves!
