Rules for the 2004 Odawa All Native Hockey Tournament



1. Registration

1.1 Entry Fee

- All entry fees are non-refundable
- Entry fee is $600.00

1.2 Registration Deadline

- Registration deadline for all teams for the Odawa All Native Hockey Tournament is Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at 5:00 pm (EST).

1.3 Draw

- The official draw for teams in the Odawa All Native Hockey Tournament will be Saturday, March 27, 2004 at 5:00 pm (EST).

1.4 Schedule

- The Schedule for the Odawa All Native Hockey Tournament will be finalized Sunday, March 28, 2004 at 5:00 pm (EST).
- The Schedule will be officially released on Monday, 29, 2004 at 10:00 am (EST).


2. Team Rosters

2.1 Rosters

- Teams will be allowed to submit a roster of twenty-two (22) players and three (3) goalies.
- Only players listed on the roster will able to play for that team in the Odawa All Native Tournament.
- A team may only dress a maximum of nineteen (19) players and two (2) goalies for each game.
- Non-paying players must also be listed on the game sheet.

2.2 Player Eligibility

- All players must be of North American Indigenous Ancestry.
- Only the following documentation will be accepted as proof of North American Ancestry:
i. INAC Treaty or Status Card with photo I.D.
ii. First Nation Card with photo I.D.
iii. Inuit Identification Card with photo I.D.
iv. Provincial/Territorial Metis Card with photo I.D.

2.3 Player Ineligibility

- Teams determined to be using an ineligible player imposed of a fine of $100.00 and that player will be disqualified from further Odawa All Native Tournament play.
- Any team determined to be using an ineligible or suspended player will forfeit any and all points for the game(s) in which that player played and will be given a 0-3 LOSS for each game in which the ineligible player played.

2.4 Age of Players

- Any player who is sixteen (16) years of age or older can play in the Odawa All Native Hockey Tournament Open Division.
- Players aged sixteen (16) and seventeen (17) years of age must have consent form signed by a parent or guardian authorizing their participation in the Odawa All Native Tournament Open Division.
- Recreation Division will be thirty-five (35) and over, with three (3) over thirty (30) years of age.
- Masters Division will be forty (40) years of age and over.


3. Penalties

3.1 All C.A.H.A. rules will apply with the following additions:

- Game misconduct: Any player incurring a game misconduct penalty shall be automatically ejected from that game only. If a player incurs a game misconduct penalty within the last five (5) minutes of a game he/she will be ejected from their teams next game.
- Gross Misconduct: Any player receiving a gross misconduct penalty will be ejected from that game and shall be disqualified from further Odawa Tournament play.
- Fighting: Players involved in a fight will be assessed a fighting major penalty and automatically ejected from the game.


4. Game Times

4.1 Length of Game

- All regular Odawa Tournament games shall not exceed fifty (50) minutes (1 –25 minute period and 1 –20 minute period straight time, except the last three (3) minutes of each game will be stop time, where there is a difference of three (3) goals or less).
- Play-off games for the Open Division will be one (1) hour and thirty (30) minutes in duration
- All remaining divisions the Championship game will be one (1) hour and fifteen (15) minutes (3 – 15 minute straight time, except the last five (5) minutes of the game will be stop time, where there is a difference of four (4) goals or less).
- There will be a three (3) minute warm up, to start once zamboni door is closed
- Each team is allowed 1 – 30 second time out in each playoff game


5. Tournament Schedule

5.1 Double Elimination for all divisions

5.2 Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of two (2) games

5.3 In the event of a team losing for the first time in the Final, the two teams will play again twenty (20) minutes after the teams first loss to decide a champion.


6. Protests and Appeals Procedures

6.1 Appeal Procedure

- All appeals will be submitted to the Referees Room along with a $100.00 appeal bond.
- The appeal bond must be cash only
- Appeals can only be submitted by the team’s coach and/or manager as listed on the game sheet.
- All appeals must be filed within thirty (30) minutes after the upon completion of the game.
- If the decision of the appeal is in favor of the appealing team, the appeal bond will be returned to that team and the Odawa Aboriginal Athletics will amend the results of the game accordingly.
- If the decision of the appeal goes against the appealing team, the appeal bond is retained by the Odawa Aboriginal Athletics and the results of the game stand.
- All decisions by the Odawa Aboriginal Athletics are final.


7. Video & Photographs

7.1 Video Agreement – all video footage taken during the Odawa All Native Hockey Tournament will be exclusive property of the Odawa Aboriginal Athletics

7.2 Photo Agreement - all photographs taken during the Odawa All Native Hockey Tournament will be exclusive property of the Odawa Aboriginal Athletics.


8. Liability & Indemnification

8.1 The Odawa Aboriginal Athletics shall not be liable for any injury or damage (including death), or for loss or damage to registered players and participants including game officials, team personnel and spectators, in any manner based upon, arising during, occasioned by, resulting from, or in any way attributable to the Odawa All Native Hockey Tournament. Unless this loss or damage is caused by an act of negligence by a recognized representative of the Odawa All Native Hockey Tournament while acting within the scope of his or her duly assigned responsibilities.


9. Odawa Aboriginal Athletics Association Rights

9.1 The Odawa Aboriginal Athletics Association reserves the right to any and all property including products and promotional materials affiliated and/or associated with and including the Odawa All Native Hockey Tournament and the Odawa Aboriginal Athletics.

9.2 Any use of any and all property, products and promotional material affiliated and/or associated with ad including the Odawa All Native Hockey Tournament must have the approval in writing from the Odawa Aboriginal Athletics.
