April 21st Game

Written By Hux

We had our first real type skirmish of the year tonight. Though only six of our members showed up, it was a blast. We started out arriving at our flooded paintball field around 19:00 and played our first game ten minutes later. As always we started with the new players (Robsterious, Deathman, and Dan) verse those of us with more experience (Hux, Fieldstrip, and Scott). How were we to know that they would take us all out within a matter of minutes after starting. Must have been pure luck. Oh well, we write it off and play another quick round of capture the flag to finish getting warmed up. I think in that time off for our winter break we all got real rusted up, they managed to win again.

Oh well, we moved into our more normal elimination matches. Again we kept the three more experienced players against the newer players. Both teams moved to their ends of the field to start the game. Moving along the right side of the field I meet heavy resistance as I run into two of the three other players. I exchange sporadic fire with both players before retreating back to the safety of my two other members who are waiting in ambush. Not feeling like standing around I move up the middle of the field over the rock wall as a decoy. Taking a full auto burst from Deathman I go back to my base to count to 15 and get regenerated. That’s one life down.

After regenerating I decide to move along the left side in hope of flanking the opposition. Scanning the field, I notice Robsterious moving towards me. Crouching down I notice he hasn’t spotted me yet, so carelessly I move and kneel down. Looking over my shoulder I see Scott, and figure he was there to cover my back. Looking back over at my suspected target I take a shot. He fires back with his borrowed MP5K and laughs as he sees all his rounds fall short. I take aim to fire again when Deathman shoots me in the back. There goes my second life, and I’m out of the game.

Standing around at the staging area I do the normal reloading magazines, cleaning goggles, take a drink and then am joining shortly after by Robsterious. We wait there for half an hour before the game finally ends. I think we won this game.

We change the game to an everyman for himself, timed game. Person with the most kills at the end wins. Starting with our backs towards each other we all run on the go signal. Making a serious mistake I run in the same direction as Fieldstrip and hide behind an obstacle that doesn’t have any protection but a small tree between he and I. Looking over at him I hear his gun as he shoots. Though, like in a movie, all the rounds hit the skinny little tree in front of me. What a godsend that was. Too bad while I was busy laughing Fieldstrip nailed me with a second burst. DOH. There is my first death that game. Standing up raising my hands and gun over my head I start my count to 30 (our rule for the game was count to 30 and you get to move so as to keep from being repeatedly killed by the same person). I set off towards the road in hunt of my first kill of this round. I stalk through the brush as quiet as is possible with all the snow and water on the ground, when I reach the far rear base. Coming up over the rocks I see movement and hear as BBs fly past my head. Ducking back down I circled around to get a better angle on the shooter and pop up in time as he takes aim at another player. BANG, my first kill of the match, and Dan’s first death. Running up to him I inform him of his creeping towards the edge of the shooting range with the distance he is at, and warn him to not go beyond the fort a few paces away. Circling around the left side of the field, I get through with no shots fired at me. I spy Scott firing at Fieldstrip and Deathman. Taking aim with the 1.5x scope on my Mil AUG I fire three quick rounds in semi auto and get the kill. Circling around he flank, I notice Scott hasn’t relocated and has resumed firing at Fieldstrip and Deathman, again I get the kill. I then change out my partially spent magazine (I played with 30 rounds in each magazine) and go hunting again. Getting to the end of the field, I come back up on the same side I just traveled on. Again I see Scott, again I line up the shot in my scope, and again I get the kill. Though he sees me, and I wasn’t fast enough to get out of range of his CA MP5SD3. POP POP POP!! One finally hits me on the inside of my leg. Raising my gun above my head I cross the field as I count to 30. Stalking on the right side this time I stumble upon Robsterious and take aim. As I take aim he shifts his attention to me, and unlike last time, I am in range for the little MP5K. Firing on full auto he trailed shots after me until I hit a pile of dead trees. Me being the klutz I am, step on the end of one of the logs, which in turn kicked up the other end of it. BANG, right into the knee. HIT, a bb quickly followed up the hit of the tree and got Robsterious his kill. Going back to the staging area I walk off the pain of the tree hit, and reload my magazines.

The game ends quickly thereafter and we all meet in the staging area again for reloading and battery changes. We decide on another elimination game to end off the night, but in this one we all split into two man fire teams. The teams were Team 1, Fieldstrip and I. Team 2 - Robsterious and Deathman. Team 3 - Dan and Scott.

We all go into the middle of the field and start the game. Fieldstrip and I head up to the far fort, but only after we stop to watch where the other teams went. We saw Team 3 start going after Team 2 right off the bat, and decide to form a pincer movement with them and take out team 2. What a mistake. We move out to about 100 yards from the far fort and move over the rocks into the bush. Immediately we see the movement of Robsterious’ red shirt and take up defensive positions. Fieldstrip starts firing and moving up. I follow behind and break off as we make it to one of the bunkers buried in the bush. I head farther back and start to circle around only to be stopped by the movement of Deathman as he moved into cover. I line up the shot and fire off all 30 rounds, though none hit. Turning he fires his borrowed FAMAS at me as Fieldstrip starts firing at him. Shifting his fire to Fieldstrip I fall back and change magazines. Hearing that my partner was hit I move up again to give what minimal covering fire I can provide. Deathman doesn’t notice I am sneaking up on him until I loose the first shot. DAMN, another miss and he gets the drop on me and I am dead. Standing up I count out my 30 and move back into the game. But this time Deathman has moved farther into the interior of the field and left his partner covering rear. I stalk out to the outside of the field along the road as Fieldstrip bears down on him through the bush. Moving as quietly as I can, and stepping on as much bare grounds as I can find, I stalk up onto Robsterious. He looses a couple rounds as he retreats and I hit the closest patch of bushes I could find. After he quit firing I resume my stalk and look over to find Fieldstrip has done the same. We have circled completely around the field and back to the staging area. Fieldstrip takes cover in one of the bunkers as he and Deathman engage in another firefight. Sneaking around I try to get behind Deathman to get the kill, only to find out Robsterious has run out of ammo. Taking him back to the staging area I reload his magazine and we both walk out onto the field again. I notice him take cover right across from me and get the cheap kill. For fear of getting shot in the back I approach him and take him hostage (thankfully, because the moment I got to him Deathman drew a bead on me and was pulling the trigger). I walk about 50 yards with Robsterious in front of me as a human shield before I tell him to run and catch up with his partner.

Circling back I regroup with Fieldstrip who is sitting in a bunker reloading his MP5 magazine. We decide to move back along the left side of the field in search of Team 3. The trek was uneventful until we reached the rocks. I spot a color that does not fit in with the white snow, and gray rock and trees. The pink tone of Scott’s flesh gives him away, and as I tell Fieldstrip to get down they start shooting. A lucky bounce off a tree (or maybe it was just one of the shots that got through the cover) hits me on the inside of the leg. Damn, dead again. I stand up and start my count as Fieldstrip moves left directly into the line of fire from Scott and Dan. BANG BANG BANG, he’s dead. I finish my count and circle up around the rocks to where I thought I saw Scott run too. I search around the bush and fort for Scott to no avail. Then I hear the call that the game is over. Crap, oh well, was fun while it lasted. Fieldstrip and I start the trek back across the field to the staging area. On our way there we exchange some friendly fire, me getting hit in the knee a few times, I don’t even think the one shot I took hit anything. We get back to the staging area and we conclude it has been enough for one night. We pack up our guns and all slosh our way through the water and snow to the cars. We say goodbye and see when everyone is ready for a new game and climb into our vehicles. Needless to say we were all soaked from running through all the water. Hell, at one point I stepped on the side of my foot and felt the water drain from my boot.

Over all what a great game this was. No complaints from any of the players, and the new guys had a blast. Hello, and welcome to airsoft in Yellowknife Dan and Weezy. Hope you can get your guns soon and play more with us.
