This is because when corrosion occurs in an electrolyte, corrosion cells are set up causing electric currents to flow out from anodes to cathodes; the anodes give itself up or corrode and the cathodes receive current or get protected | ||||||||

On a ship, cathodic protection is applied on the ship's hull, sea water piping sys-tem, ballast tanks, etc. | ||||||||

There are 2 types Cathodic protection System.
