Battersea Merchants Vs Brett Contracting Cowboys
The Cowboys opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI triple by third baseman Pat Severin that scored centre fielder Jeff Hannah, who had reached base via a walk.  In the third inning the Cowboys made the score 2-0 on a single by right fielder Tim Murphy that scored Hannah, who had singled and then stole second base.  Battersea cut the lead in half in the fifth inning after a lead off walk to right fielder Matt Lynch turned into a run with the help of two Cowboy errors.  The Cowboys regained their two run lead in the fifth inning when left fielder Brandon Burtch singled to centre field to lead off the inning and scored two outs later on a single by Murphy.  Battersea mounted a two out seventh inning rally, coming close to tying the game.  Pitcher Kirk Sudds singled with two outs and moved to second on a single by second baseman Gord Boulton.  Catcher Tony Switzer followed with a single to score Sudds and to make the score 3-2.  The Cowboys were able to get a fielder's choice on the next batter for the final out of the game.
