Wednesday evening in Inverary the Napanee Junior Express and the Kingston Cowboys met for the first time this season after having two previously scheduled games rained out.  The Cowboys opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single by Ryan Sharpe that scored Jeff Hannah, who had reached base on a double down the left field line and moved to third on a sac bunt.  Napanee tied the score in the thrid inning with Chris Lewis coming in to score on a ground out by Craig McGarvey.  The Cowboys took the lead for good in the fourth inning when with one out David Purdon hit a solo homerun to centre field.  Paul Hannah followed with a single.  Jeff Hannah reached base on a fielder's choice and then stole second base to get into scoring position.  Tim Murphy followed with an RBI single to centre field.  Sharpe singled to right centre to put runners at the corners, and then moved to second base on a passed ball.  Chris Switzer then drove in both runners with a single to make the score 5-1.  In the sixth inning the Cowboys added the final run of the game on a sacrifice fly to centre field by Ryan Sharpe that scored Jeff Hannah, who had singled.

Earlier in the week the Cowboys suffered their first loss of the season, losing 1-0 against the North Fred Kings.

In a four point game played at Inverary on Monday evening the Kingston Cowboys improved to a league best 15-2-2 record with a 4-1 victory over Battersea.  The game was the first game of the Cowboys 'Retro' week where the Cowboys will be wearing different uniforms for their three games.  Last night the Cowboys took the field in lovely Red and Yellow 'NGLIN' uniforms from circa 1993.  The Cowboys opened the scoring in the second inning when Jamie Purdon hit a one out single and then scored on a double down the left field line by Jon Swaine.  In the fourth inning the Cowboys made it 2-0.  Chris Switzer led off the inning with a single to right field.  On the first pitch to the next batter, Switzer stole second base and moved to third base on a throwing error.  Doug Kane drove in the run with a ground out to shortstop.  Battersea closed the gap to 2-1 in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Steve Bain that scored Cory Sands, who had reached on an error.  Battersea was able to load  the bases with only one out, but they were unable to push the tying run across.  The Cowboys responded in the bottom of the sixth inning with two insurance runs.  Ryan Sharpe led off the inning with a single up the middle and was later forced out at second on a fielder's choice by Doug Kane.  Adam Lake came on to pinch run for Kane and scored on a triple to right field by Jamie Purdon.  Purdon also crossed the plate on the play on what was scored as an error on the catcher.

Here are the results from a game played last night in Battersea.  I do not have the scoresheets with me so I am doing this without the statistics.

The Cowboys opened the scoring in the top of the fourth inning when Doug Kane hit a two run homerun to centre field.  Chris Switzer, who was on via an error, scored on the hit.  Battersea rallied with a two run home half of the inning, scoring twice on a bases loaded double to right centre field by Travis Monds.  David Purdon led off the fifth inning for the Cowboys with a homerun to give the Cowboys a 3-2 lead.  Battersea tied the game in the home half of the inning on a solo homerun to left field by Steve Bain.  Battersea's Mike Paul and the Cowboys Ryan Sharpe both threw well in picking up the tie.
