Napanee Express Midgets win via default against Darren Green Sandblasting

Kingston Cowboys 7 Sunbury 6 in Inverary

The Cowboys opened the scoring in the top of the first inning.  Centre fielder Jeff Hannah led off the game with a walk and moved to second base on a single by right fielder Tim Murphy.  After both runners moved up on a passed ball Hannah scored when Sunbury pitcher Dave Hanna missed a throw back from catcher Rueben Struthers.  An altercation in the top of the second inning led to the ejections of both the Cowboys Jeff Hannah and Sunbury's Dave Hanna.  Bob Finucan came on in relief of Hanna.  This seemed to spark Sunbury as they struck for four runs in the bottom of the second.  Designated player Dave Tolles led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a passed ball.  Struthers then followed with a walk.  After retiring the next two batters via strikeouts, Cowboys pitcher Ryan Sharpe walked third baseman Dave Walsh to load the bases.  Centre fielder Paul Tolles then hit a two run single to right centre to give Sunbury the lead.  After an error allowed another run to score, second baseman Cory Gee singled home the fourth run of the inning.  The Cowboys rallied to tie the score in the fourth.  Third baseman Jamie Purdon laid down a bunt single and then came home on a towering homerun to centre field by first baseman Josh Vanderzande.  Right fielder Geoff Crawford followed with a bunt single and scored one out later when a single to right field by second baseman Jon Swaine got past the fielder.  Sunbury immediately took the lead again in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Gee singled with two out and scored on a homerun by right fielder Jason Norman.  Shortstop Doug Kane led off the Cowboys fifth inning with a solo homerun to left field to cut the Sunbury lead to 6-5.  Jon Swaine came on to relieve Sharpe in the bottom of the fifth inning for the Cowboys and held Sunbury to only one hit in three innings.  In the top of the seventh inning catcher Craig Pearce led off the inning with a single and moved to third on a hit and run single to left field by Doug Kane.  Kane moved to second base on the throw.  Sharpe followed with a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Pearce and allowed Kane to move to third.  After a pop out, Purdon hit a triple to right centre field to score Kane with the eventual game winning run.
