Kingston Cowboys 6 Sydenham Amey's
Drilling 4 in Inverary
The Cowboys used a five run third
inning to take control of the game. Third baseman Jamie Purdon lead off the
inning with a walk and scored on a triple to left field by right fielder Josh
Vanderzande. One out later centre fielder Jeff Hannah laid down a suicide
squeeze bunt single to score Vanderzande from third. Second baseman Tim Murphy
then hit a double off of the top of the left field fence to move Hannah to third
and pitcher Jon Swaine then followed with a three homerun to left centre field
to make the score 5-0. Sydenham scored a run in the top of the fourth on a solo
homerun to left by third baseman Chris Carroll. The Cowboys responded in the
home half of the inning on an RBI single by Vanderzande that scored left fielder
Brandon Burtch who led off the inning with a single. Sydenham closed the gap in
the fifth scoring an unearned run on a ground ball to short by centre fielder
Hughie Vankoughnett that scored catcher Terry Redden who had doubled. In the
seventh inning Sydenham scored two runs when Vankoughnett hit an RBI triple to
score shortstop Chris Bowes who had singled. Vankoughnett scored on the play
when the ball was misplayed on the cutoff throw.

Napanee Express Midgets 9 Enterprise Mortgage Intelligence 1 (4 point game)
The midgets got right to work knowing that 4 points were on the line (league rule to ensure that rainouts and cancelled games get made up) scoring 2 in the first inning. They added one in the second and another in the third. The express were not very kind to Larry McNeil who came into pitch in the fourth as they sent 10 batters to the plate and counted 5 runs. Andy Madden went the distance to pick up the win he gave up 4 hits and struck out 9, he also helped his cause with two rbi's. Craig McGarvey lead the Express attack going two for two while Mike Roantree chipped in two rbi's. Lyle Brown did all he could for the Enterprise squad going three for three. The Express head to Simcoe this weekend to compete for the Provincial "A" title.
