What is Large Format Media?

Large Format (LF) Media is defined as any visual content that is captured, processed and displayed in a way that makes full use of our peripheral vision. Common trade names include ShowScan, GOTO, RideFilm and IMAX.

What is the LF Project?

The LF Project is an effort to develop Large Format Media training and volunteer work experience for film students, through accredited film schools in North America. A major goal of this project is to help develop producers and content that are useful the LF industry.

Who is the LF Group?

The LF Advisory Group is an ad-hoc alliance of LF industry professionals who participate in the development of LF training and work experience opportunities for film students and faculty, through accredited film schools in North America.

What is a LF Student Producer?

The LF Student Producer owns and controls any product that results from a Large Format Student Project Opportunity (SPO). If developed properly, a Student Producer should be able to use their SPO to gain a small, equity interest in a Large Format feature film.

What is a LF Student Production Group?

A Student Production Group is a volunteer production unit (usually film students and some faculty) who are recruited by the Student Producer. The Class-of-2002 had about 25 volunteer members who performed all of the conventional roles of a film production unit. See Final Credits for Class-of-2002.

What is a SPO-RFP?

A SPO Request For Proposal (RFP) is a written statement that is developed by the Student Producer and released to the LF producers and distributors.

The RFP should accomplish the following: (1) declare the willingness of the Student Producer to develop their LF short film project in a way that adds value to a LF feature film which is in pre-production or; (2) provide a brief proposal on how the Student Producer might contribute to an older feature film already in distribution and; (3) invite the industry producer or distributor to submit a counter proposal.
