SOLAR ECLIPSE
What is a solar eclipse ?
A solar eclipse is an event in which the moon as it orbits the earth , passes in front of the sun and blocks out it's light .
There are three types of solar eclipses. They are total , annual, and partial. A total eclipse happens when the moon blocks out the sun so you do not see any part of the solar disk. A annual eclipse is a eclipse where part of the solar disk is visible, forming a ring of sunlight around the moon. A partial eclipse occurs when the moon only cover's part of the solar disk.
The blue circle is the moon, the yellow circle is the solar disk
As you see in the first picture there is no solar disk visible - a total solar eclipse, the second youu see the ring of sunlight - an annular eclipse, and the third - aa partial solar eclipse.
Future Solar Eclipses as viewed from Brockville
Some of these elipses will be annular or total as seen from a specific region on the earth, but as seen from brockville, the sun will be only partial blocked by the moon, so that's why I list them as patial solar eclipes.
The only exception is the Apr 8 / 2024 which will be a total solar eclipse as seen from brockville.
