Praise be to the Lord forever!  Amen and Amen.

Today I woke up at 5:30am.  As I felt tired, I slept some more till 6:00am and some more till 7:30am.

I went to see the doctor.  I shouldn¡¦t have missed the 2 bone scans.  It¡¦s a waste of the medical resources, which a lot of people needed.  Forgive my sins God.

Then, I went to the chapel.  Andrew was there wandering around in Regent, therefore I asked him to join the worship.  It¡¦s nice to see Joanna.  I met Eric (I met him last year in the running club), who goes to the same church of Sandy.  God bless Sandy in all her homework, fellowship and her life and walk with you God.  God bless Eric and may you heal his ankle?

Today, the chapel was awesome.  It was Korean style and includes 3 messages given by 3 Koreans.  Today, I was touched.

Korean Christians are incredibly amazing.  Consider a morning prayer at church at 6am, 365 days a year.  That¡¦s a true expression of love and commitment for God!  Korea also sends the largest number of missionaries to the world.  Thanks God.  Lately, that my concentration is relatively weak (probably tiredness, though I suspect whether it¡¦s spiritual tiredness or physical tiredness or both), I have been praying God will bring me back to the ¡§on-fire¡¨ mode again.  Now, thanks God that you provide me with an example.  Just the past Sunday bible school, Aunt Queenie talked about Korean Christians and today the chapel talked about Korean Christians.  Thanks God for the guidance.

The message about Korean Christians had 3 points:

1.      Koreans focus a lot on prayer (as described above)

2.      Koreans are known for their commitments.

3.      Koreans are v. strong in their communion with others.

I was touched by one sentence- we focus not on our own, but others.  Yes!  Yes!  Yes!  Lately, I have been over-focusing on self-holiness.  I over-focused on meditations.  I should love practically more!  Lay down myself, focus more on God, which means focus more on loving and support and humbly serve others.

After chapel, I went home and had lunch with grandma and uncle Sum. 

Now, I cooked dinner.  I will resume when I¡¦m back.

In the evening, uncle Sum and Calvary came up.  I had dinner.  Then I left and went to bible study.  I love bible study.  No, it¡¦s inaccurate.  I love being with my brothers and sisters- Jane, Anita, Janice, Gary, Josephine, Dorothy, Alex, and Michael.  O God, how great is your love?  May I ask you please Lord, take best care of Enoch brothers and sisters, amen.

Michael talked a lot about marriage and dating.  We talked about ¡§remain faithful to covenant¡¨ (Hebrews 8:9).  I love the idea of commitment and faithfulness and fulfilment of duty no matter what (Psalm 15).  God, may I walk out this truth?  May you purify my heart and give me energy to walk in all your ways?  Not for myself, but for others.  To serve others.  I also love the Hebrew 8:5 ¡§see to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you¡¨.  O God, may I walk straight in your truth, without any turning right or left?  Praise be to you God.  God bless all in fellowship.

From today on, I will include a new meditation part which will include:

1.      What I learn?

2.      What sins to confess and improve?

3.      What I give thanks for?

I learn:

¡P         Korean Christians are a great model example of me.  Thanks God

¡P         Be more loving and less judging when helping e.g. grandma.  Distinguishing right and wrong is not the most important thing.  It¡¦s to bring about the right.  Everyone can tell what¡¦s right and what¡¦s wrong immediately, provided he¡¦s morally competent.  How to bring forth the change is what that matters.  Unconditional love is to look beyond a person¡¦s fault, love her and support her to change.  That¡¦s God¡¦s love.  God doesn¡¦t just condemn our sins.  Instead he¡¦s ultimately patient.  He¡¦s patient that, though he¡¦s perfect and hate sinfulness, he¡¦s able to look beyond the persons¡¦sinst and love the person for who she is.  That¡¦s unusual.  His love for us does not get less by our sins.  He still loves us MASSIVELY and loves us and calls us to repent.  O God, how I wish to learn your love?  In addition, imagine if I am doing wrong, I exactly know I am doing wrong (provided the person is normally moral).  I do want to do good, though at this very moment I can¡¦t (maybe I¡¦ll be capable the next moment).  I do not want any hard criticism.  Instead, I would welcome a light mention that ¡§I¡¦m off the track (doing wrong)¡¨ and then loving support for me to change.  Therefore, next time, when we see a person going off-track, we can commit to look beyond his fault (only a light clarification of the truth) and encourage him.  Love him as if there¡¦s no tomorrow.  God, may you teach me your love?  May I use all my soul and strength to love others?  God bless

¡P         Today when I went to the clinic, the receptionist dressed in a revealing top.  O God, she doesn¡¦t understand her way.  Her ignorance might lead many to sins.  How many souls will be captured and corrupted by her?  God, I pray you will cast away the evil.  God, I pray that your Holy Spirit will open that girl¡¦s mind so that she will know you.  1Timothy 2:9- ¡§women are to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes¡¨.  God, may I always be observant and submissive to your Holy Spirit, so that I can be blameless and not lead other people into temptations?

¡P         God, I really give thanks for your inspiration and guidance today.  I will remember it- commitment and love.

God, I pray:

• Your gospel will reach those who don¡¦t know you.  Your gospel will touch those who heard you and yet unsure of their faith.  Your gospel will provide assurance of salvation for those in suffering.

O God, praise be to you O God almighty.

I trust in you.

I think my biggest worry is school work.  I believe I have worried too much while studies too little.  What a stupidity.

O God, be close to me and all my family and friends and everyone.

Today I bought the Message.  I was thinking what I should write as a greeting word.  Finally, I chose this beautiful psalm.

Praise God o my soul!  Don¡¦t worry, trust in the Lord and I will never be shaken!

¡§For great is your love towards me¡¨.  I can experience God¡¦s MASSIVE LOVE towards me, through family love, friendship love, dating love, beautiful nature, various miracles, and many incidents.  God¡¦s love is like a HUGE treasure land.  It¡¦s infinite.  There are always new things for me to learn and experience.

¡¨You have delivered me from the depths of the grace.¡¨  I am yet to learn this experience and faith.  Do I have any close-death experience?  The only one I can remember is inside the snow tunnel in the Glacier National Park.  I believe I was saved many things but I just didn¡¦t know it.

Thanks be to God!

Today, I went to school.  In between classes, I read philosophy.  I was too tired and the reading was too hard (as hard as Kant).  After class, I went to volunteer in helpline.  I was so tired! J 

Today, during lunch, I did devotion with Jane.  It was v. good.  God bless Jane.

James told me he was busy with papers.  May God bless him and give him wisdom in all that?  God be with him.  May God also lead him to the right church and fellowship.  God bless Francis and Nina too.

I also saw Vivian today.  God bless her.  God, may you be close to her and guide her to know you?

During helpline, I chatted with Jean.  J She is a Christian.  Thanks God.  God, be with her and guide her to walk in your truth with perfect submission and delight.  She described the city of Beijing to me.  God bless everyone in Beijing, may they hear your Gospel!

God, bless Jonathan.  May you guide him to find a suitable church and fellowship?  God, may you give him wisdom in study and let him have confidence in you.

When I went back home, Calvary was there.

Before I slept, I prayed.  I was v. tired.  But I commit to pray.  Thanks God that I was able to finish my prayer.

Now, let me summarize about the past few days.

Jan 14, Friday:

As usual, I went to classes on time.  After school, I studied with Jane in the library and wrote the Enoch bible study (dunno why, this time the ideas run v. slow & I took around 2 hours).  Then, we headed to fellowship.  We arrived there at 7pm (we were supposed to have a how-to-lead-a-bible-study class at 6:30pm).  I regretted immensely for the lack of commitment.  Michael, please forgive me.  Sorry God, sorry Michael, I fell short of your expectation and glory.  It¡¦s bad, very bad.  God, forgive my sins.  I hate lack of commitment.  I hate sinning against God and shaming God.  God, forgive my stupidity.  A servant of God needs ultimate commitment.  It¡¦s my duty and my life.  God, let me act rightly to glorify you again!

After the family class, I asked James, whether he had found a church or not.  He said no, which I had expected.  However, surprisingly, he told me Francis (his gf/non-Christian) was suggesting him to go to church together.  The reason was, as he told me, ¡§there is something I can¡¦t provide her¡¨.  Francis told him, she wants to go to church and tries to believe in God.  ¡K  Thanks God for the miracles.  Thanks God!  I am extremely happy for (though James probably didn¡¦t know)

1.      From last semester on, I saw James suddenly had good interest to know God and to put on his Christian identity once again.

2.      Since I knew James, I had been praying almost every night that James, his girlfriend Francis and his sister Nina will be able to come to God, the ultimate joy.  I remembered last time I asked Nina, she said she desired to explore God once again.  And now, Francis wants to believe.  O God, what can I say.  Glory be to you God.

James, blessed is the man who trusts in God.  This blessing transcends life and everything.  I pray more so that you will make it my good friend!

Because of tiredness and regret (as I mentioned above), I did not quite focus in fellowship.  J Take it easy Joe.  Have some more sleep.  Commit to serve the Lord and serve people.  Commit to a healthy life style.  God, be with me.

After fellowship, we went to have snack.  Finally, I went home at 11:00pm.

Though I was v. tired, I prayed half hour.

The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Get away from me Satan, God is with me!

Give thanks to God almighty.  Glory and praises be to you God.  Praise the Lord from everlasting to everlasting, amen.

Jan 15, Saturday:

I got up at 7:30am.

I immediately edited and finished up the Enoch bible study.  Finally, it took me a total of 3 hours.  Thanks God!

After that, I went to teach ESL (9:45am).  Thanks God, I took the 9am bus and ARRIVED IN TIME!  Thanks God that you listened to my prayer!  The bus arrived 5 minutes earlier than usual.  Miracle!  Thanks God.  I had taught for around 4 months and now those elderly become my friends.  Thanks God.  May your Holy Spirit touches and blesses them and let them to you God almighty.  Praise be to you God.

Then, I went to meet Martin.  On my way to his home, I passed by a bike shop.  You know what, I went in and test rode the 2005 Norco Charger.  Great bike!  I do like biking.  Biking gives me a nostalgia.  I think probably because when I first arrived in Canada, I rode my uncle¡¦s bike and explored the city of Kamloops.  The bike has become like a car for other people.  I cherish bikes a lot because it gives me a sense of mobility or some sense of freedom.

I hadn¡¦t seen Martin for 3 weeks.  Thanks God.  We had a great chat.  I discovered that love is really an amazing thing.  Thanks God for creating love!  Though apparently we are different people, from different backgrounds and have different outlook of life, through love, we are able to appreciate, understand and love each other.  Thanks God.  I went up to Martin¡¦s room.  It¡¦s beautiful and has great view.  Then, after dinner at 5pm, we bused to downtown and had a late snack.  Tonight, I asked Martin to try out my church.  Surprisingly, Martin promised me YES!  Thanks God for the miracle.  God, may you be close to Martin, bless him and give him hope and revive his passion of life!  Glory be to you O God.

Tonight, it snowed heavily.  Thanks God for such a beauty.  What a winter wonderland.  Thanks God!  What¡¦s more can I say?  Thanks God for everything!  All things bright and beautiful, the Lord God made them all.

When I arrived home, surprisingly, uncle Sum and Calvary were at the car park.  Grandma had just arrived from LA..  I joined them and visited grandma in the elderly home (a Christian one).  Thanks God.  I am glad to see grandma and the fact that she¡¦s just living 5 minute walk from my home.  I can visit her couple times every week from now on.  Thanks God.  It¡¦s a great blessing that I will be able to seek an elder¡¦s life experience and insight.  What a great blessing!  God bless grandma, continue to shape her to be perfect and blameless before you and be a light before man.

Finally, I went back home at 9pm.

Then I read a bit of the Bible.  I thought I would sleep early tonight.  Then I suddenly thought, ¡§let¡¦s make a card for Jane¡¨.  Then I made it.  Thanks God.  God bless Jane in this New Year.  God, guide Jane to explore more and more of your infinite love.

I was v. tired.  However, I refused to give in to the devil and I commit to the Lord and pray!

Thanks God for everything and many miracles!!!  Glory and joy be to you O God, amen.

Jan 16, Sunday:

I woke up at 6:30am.

Then I read 1 hour of Psalm and Matthew.  Psalm 84 is beautiful.  God, I pray I have more wisdom to understand your AMAZING LOVE.  It¡¦s beyond my grasp.  It¡¦s incredibly AWESOME!

After that, I went to Sunday school.  Today, I was the only one there.  I had a great time learning God¡¦s words and sharing with Aunt Queenie.  What a blessing!  Thanks God!

Today, I was surprised by a miracle!  Everyday there is a miracle.  Thanks God!  I can¡¦t believe Martin actually came!  He said the worship was pretty good.  Thanks God.  I can¡¦t believe it.  God, you listen to my prayer.  Thanks God.  A man who trusts in you will never fail!  Thanks God.  God, please have great grace for your dear child Martin and bring him to your GREAT JOY, HOPE AND LIFE!

After that, Michael and Joanna, Chan Man Wai, Aunt Judy, Gary and Janice, Dorothy, Thomas, Aunt Rosalie and Andrew and I had lunch together.  Happy happy.

Then, Thomas, Dorothy and Thomas went reading at my place.

Now, it¡¦s 6:15pm.  I will resume after dinner.  Tonight we were going to have a birthday dinner for Jane with Thomas, Dorothy, Carmen, Karen, Melinda and German.

Tonight, it¡¦s v. nice.

First, we went to a French restaurant in Richmond.  It¡¦s my first time eating French food.  Food doesn¡¦t really matter for me.  What I love are my friends.  Thanks God.

Then, they all came over to my place at 8:30pm.

Thomas and German played computer games.  Guess what, Jane, Dorothy, Karen, Melinda, Carmen and I did a bible study in Psalm 23.  Karen also shared 2 miracles of God, which was totally amazing and encouraging.  As they are absolutely uplifting and morale-raising for our faith in God, I would have to mention it here:

1.  In Toronto, a girl (let¡¦s call her A for convenience) walked back home after fellowship at night.  Her brothers originally had offered to give her a ride, as her walk home needed to go through a dark, long subway, but she refused it.  As she was at the middle of the tunnel, she saw a guy walking from the other end of the tunnel.   He looked nothing like a normal pedestrian.  The girl was v. worried as she knew she had made a big mistake of walking home by herself.  She knew, even if she turned back and ran, the guy would be able to get her.  She prayed continually to God for help.  Then, the guy passed by her and did nothing but a peep on her.  The girl was relieved.  However, the story didn¡¦t end here.  In next day morning, A watched the news and it reported a girl was raped and killed at that tunnel at just around the time A walked through the tunnel.  The criminal (exactly the guy who passed by A) was arrested and A went to the police office to give a report (as she clearly remembered the face of the criminal) and to learn about the whole thing.  The report given by the criminal was v. surprising.  The criminal reported, originally A was his target.  However, as he came close to her, he discovered there were 2 guards by her 2 sides and therefore he was afraid and went away.  This incident is recorded officially in the police department.  What a miracle!

2.  In the recent tsunami, there was a high school teacher who was with a group of young students on a boat by the seashore.  The huge tsunami suddenly came.  There could be no chance to escape from the boat.  The teacher, knowing he could do nothing, prayed and ordered the tsunami to stop.  Surprisingly the tsunami just got diverted at the point of the boat and the boat remained intact and everyone was unharmed.  This incident was seen by many people and, as it was so amazing, reported in CNN.  What a miracle!

God¡¦s work is beyond our understanding.  What we should focus our life on is not to try to understand completely how the miracles work, but trust in the Lord with all our heart, soul and strength.

After that, German, Melinda and Thomas left early.  God, I pray that you will be close to this promising young man.  God, may you please bring him close to you and guide him to trust in you completely and live in your truth.  God, he had sorrows and confusions in his life.  God, may you show him that your grace is sufficient for him and even a great joy for him in suffering (e.g. Paul sang while in prison)?  God bless Thomas.

Then, Carmen, Karen, Dorothy, Jane and I chatted and did some sharing.  It was v. good.  God, may you be with us always and teach us to be a good follower of you God?  God, have mercy on us, sinners.

That¡¦s almost a decent summary of today.

Mum phoned me but I was busy at that time.  God bless her.  May God be gentle to her and open her heart which is hardened by the deceitfulness and lack of hope of this world.  God, I trust in you and your miracles, amen.

Also, I¡¦m v. glad to meet Jonathan on the bus and to be able to chat with him.  God bless him and lead him to a suitable church.  God, protect him and let him grow in your truth and protect him from the evil.  God, please guide him, amen.

More humility comes more wisdom; more wisdom required more humility.  When we learn, judge what is right and wrong, good and bad; this is the right kind of judging.  However, shun from judging the person or comparing the person to ourselves.  Keep a humble attitude.  Be devoted to learn the truth, rather than to insist on our ideas always being right.  Remember the standard is the truth, rather than our own standard.  Therefore, when we learn, do not focus on whether the incoming ideas match our standard or not.  Be humble and learn the truth.  The fact that I am wrong or right is not important.  Be humble and explore the truth together.

When we demand a certain kind of treatment or attitude from others, demand the same or even more from our own!  Continue to do good to the person who treats you bad.  Smile to him and inform him of his misunderstanding humbly and gently.  If you treat the person who treats you bad in a bad way, what are you doing?  You are a bad person just as him!  How can you say he is a bad person when you are being a bad person as well.  Do good, for the Lord our God is perfect.

Jan 10, 2005 Monday

I woke up at 8:00am.  I enjoyed the fellowship moment.  Thanks God.

O, I missed my first class (the bus was full)!  Danger!  It¡¦s a usual day.  In between classes, I studied in the library.  I love reading, though it seems my reading speed needed to pick up substantially.  I went to the same class (Biblical Archeology) with my best friend Jane.  After that, we went for dinner.  Then we headed home.  As usual, we exchanged ideas of life, e.g.

J:  I¡¦m undecided and might leave the church.  I¡¦m not satisfied.

J:  Happiness is not to do what you love, but love what you do.  Perfect content comes not from a good fellowship, but from within your own heart.  If Christ lives in you, you will be in heaven everyday. (derived from 1John 4:12)

J:  How can I keep from the evil ways, e.g. explicit clothing?

J:  To fear the Lord is to hate evil.  I hate pride and arrogance; evil behavior and perverse speech. (Proverbs 8:13)

I always like sharing with Jane.  God bless Jane, give her wisdom to do your will and delight in your truth.  God bless Jane.  God also bless Jane, shape her to be a godly girlfriend and grant her a suitable godly boyfriend.

Then I slept at 8:30pm, jet-lagged.

I woke up super early!  2:30am.

Knowing that, there will be a bible study tonight on the book of Hebrews.  I studied Hebrews for 3 hours, till 6:00am

Then I wrote some e-mails and I went to school.

I just had one class.  Then, I went to the Regent worship.  It¡¦s v. good coz I met Joanna, Henry and Sandy.  O God, Sandy told me her courses are all v. stressful even if it¡¦s just the beginning of the semester.  God, bless Sandy to trust in you and rely on you at all time!  God, bless Sandy with enough energy everyday, wisdom to study, passion of LIFE, delight in your truth and a rejoice in you!  God also bless Sandy¡¦s church and fellowship which are now in some sort of hard times.  God bless them to draw close to you!  God bless Henry with his MDiv.  God bless him to walk in your perfectly designed path, with wisdom to do your will and serve your people.  God bless Henry.

I originally planned to volunteer in helpline from 2-6pm.  But when I got there, someone is volunteering already.  So, I went back home and read some more.

At around 6:00 to 6:30pm, because of jet lag, I suddenly paralyzed to a deep sleep (I didn¡¦t even take off my jacket).  When I woke up, it¡¦s 12am.  Then I slept some more, till 5am.

Thanks Michael, Janice, Gary, Dorothy, Jane, and Alex for all your concern.  God bless you.

Now, I can roughly understand how schizophrenia patients feel during the day (schizophrenia patients often feel v. sleepy because of their medication).  Thanks God.

God I pray that you will give me wisdom to understand, wisdom to serve and wisdom to love.  Thanks God.

Today

I woke up at 5am and then I read Psalm.

I went to school on time.  I read hard (philosophy is hard to read anyway). 

I went to bike club meeting in the evening.

Norco¡¦s Charger is a nice bike (http://www.norco.com/05/2005bikes/allmountain.php).  But I do not seem to need a bike right now.  O God, let your will be done.

In the evening, I read Jonah. 

Serving the Lord needs ultimate commitment!  Joe, COMMIT!!!

God, I pray for James, coz it seems he is quite shaky in moral issues e.g. homosexuality.  God, I pray that your Holy Spirit will ignite the passion for you in him.  May you guide him to your truth and walk in your right path?  God bless James that he will find a suitable church and fellowship as soon as possible.  God, please do not delay and come to James!

Recently I re-think about my belief in God.  Now, I think the reason I am compelled to believe in God (Christianity) is not the archeological evidences, philosophical arguments, apologetics claims or any other similar sorts of evidences.  I believe because my life is CHANGED (as promised by God).  It is solid, concrete and simple to understand.

I tend to argue this way: 

As a matter fact, no matter whether he is happy or not right now or whether he thinks he can actually be happy or not, everyone does always wish and enjoy to be happy and with good virtues.

Therefore, I argue (almost everyone will agree that) humans are born or created

• To live happily (mentally and spiritually)
• To be morally perfect with all kinds of good virtues

that our value/meaning of life will then be maximized.

Therefore, if a person told me he has found the TRUTH, whether it is ¡§there exist a God¡¨, ¡§there doesn¡¦t exist a God, ¡§the Bible God is the true God¡¨, ¡§my religion is the true one¡¨, etc, yet his life is just the same without any change or increase in good deeds, I would doubt if his truth is really the TRUTH.  Because his truth doesn¡¦t benefit his life.  It¡¦s no truth at all.  I argue, the TRUTH should lead us to

• To live happily (mentally and spiritually)
• To be morally perfect with all kinds of good virtues

I like this approach, coz God is being fair to everyone, in the way that everyone can equally experience God and analyze his truthfulness.

I object to some thinking, namely the Gnostics that only some wise individuals can experience God.  Why?  God is infinite.  Human is finite.  The difference in wisdom between a super wise individual and a super foolish individual, though it might appear to be great in human¡¦s conception, is 0 compared to the gap between an infinite God and a finite human.  Therefore, a little more wisdom can¡¦t give an individual any advantages in experiencing God in the Gnostics¡¦ sense.  It doesn¡¦t make sense.

Praise God.  Let everyone call on your name and praise you Lord almighty!

All things wise and wonderful, that Lord God made them all!

He gave us eyes to see them, and lips that we might tell.

How great is God Almighty, that he made all things well!

Today, I found one more thing to learn in my sickness.  As I felt tired in the morning, I could now understand how mental health patient felt everyday, as they felt v. tired because of their medication.  Thanks God.

What I did today?

           First, I woke up at 5:30am.  I read my Bible.  Then, Jane told me ESL classes were cancelled.  So I read some more.  After lunch, I slept from 2pm to 10pm.  When I got up, I figured out a plan for Enoch Fellowship¡¦s devotion service.  I typed a bible study.  Then I slept at 3:30am.

           I didn¡¦t do much today, coz I hoped I would recover from my flu if I slept more.  I just read read read.

           God bless, amen.

           I really enjoyed the video time in Janice¡¦s home w/ Gary, Janice, and Melinda.  It¡¦s v. v. nice.

           I have posted my bible study in the Meditation section.  I hope it will help.

It¡¦s nice to have home fellowship.  I like it a lot, coz it just has a warm, cozy feeling.

I¡¦m glad to meet James and talk to him today.  He planned to apply for the RCMP in Smithers.  He had given me 2 surprises, though he might not be aware.

1.      his msn photo is a logo saying ¡§Jesus Carries Away All Sins¡¨

2.      in his RCMP application, he wrote me as one of his references

I¡¦m surprised.  God does have listened to my prayer ¡§God, may James, Francis (his gf), and Nina (his sister) come closer to you?¡¨ and James is now really getting closer to God.  I give thanks to God.  Yes, I give my best thanks to God.  A change in heart in people is the most unpredictable thing on earth.  Who can say ¡§I can do it with 100% confidence by my own?¡¨  Yet, I am 200% confident, coz I pray to the Lord my God and trust in him and rely on him.  God, may you continue to come close to James and guide him in your truth and that James will have a passion for you and seek and he shall find?  Praise the Lord!

A man¡¦s steps are directed by the Lord.

How then can anyone understand his own way?

Another surprise is given by Jane.  Jane has already given me lots of surprises.  She told me she was comforted, reading my diary, during her days of struggle and making a decision.  Actually, I do not know what I have done at all to help.  Yes, maybe I prayed.  I pray every day and night, and God has helped her.  Thanks God. 

God, may Jane always seek your will and walk in your will?  God, grant this servant of yours with great wisdom and courage.  Blessed is the girl who trusts the Lord, for she will be shown mercy and grace.

How to seek God¡¦s will?

To offer your body as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-

 this is your spiritual act of worship.

 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world

 but be transformed by a renewing of your mind.

 Then you will be able to test and approve what God¡¦s will is,

 his good, pleasing, and perfect will.

(Romans 12:1-2)

You are my friends if you do what I command.

  I no longer call you servants as a servant does not know his master¡¦s business.  Instead I have called you friends as everything I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 

This is my command: Love each other.

Tonight, we had a little fellowship discussion (about Thomas).  What is a good solution?  I¡¦d like to seek a biblical view. 

Personally, I believe the church is for the sick and poor in spirit for the mercy of God will be shown.

"Jesus said to them,

 'It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.

 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.'"

(Mark 2:17)

It¡¦s obvious Thomas was not behaving well.  It¡¦s plain apparent.  But what we need to do is not ¡§You should do this and that¡¨ and not when he failed again, we then put him out of our Christian gathering.  Rather, we should support him and help him to do this and that.  Everyone knows how he/she should act.  But the question is how?  For example, personally, I want to be as humble and smart as Jesus, but I just can¡¦t do it for right now.  It takes time.  It¡¦s no use to push me real hard now, coz I just can¡¦t make it right now.

Accept him whose faith is weak,

without passing judgment on disputable matters.

(Romans 14:1)

Plus, everyone is different and has a totally different starting point (life background) in doing good.  One coming from a healthy family is easier to do good than one coming from a broken family.  If we help, we need to start from HIS point, not OUR point.  For example, you can call a patient to shut up and stop crying and smile, coz it¡¦s obviously better to smile than to cry.  But he just can¡¦t coz he is in a REALLY HARD TIME!  Every time we help, we have to understand the situation first. 

Also, in this case, don¡¦t think that Thomas does not know he¡¦s doing wrong.  He knows it.  Even murderers know they¡¦re doing wrong.  He needs help, support and lots of compassion to return to the right path.

Pray for him a lot.  Yes, a lot!  He needs more than a change in behavior.  He needs a change in heart and recognize his meaning of life and worth.  He needs God.  I appreciate that many people are caring and helping and making A LOT of effort in this issue.  Thanks God for that.  God bless us all.

Let us not become weary in doing good,

 for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do no give up. 

Therefore, as we have the opportunity,

 let us do good to all people, especially those who belong to the family of believers.

(Galatians 6: 9-10)

Be just yet also compassionate.  Do our best to help.  Pray w/o ceasing.  Never give up coz we trust in the Lord our God!  Never worry, just pray!

The above is my personal view.  I¡¦d say we must ask a pastor (e.g. Michael) and experienced elders for a biblical view.

God, have mercy and grace on Thomas and his family.  May you be close to them and help them in this hard time?  God, we do not know a good solution.  God, we trust in you.  God, let your will be done.  Obviously, a change in heart is needed.  God, may your Holy Spirit touch them?  God, we need your help!  Please help as soon as possible!  God, we trust in you!

Tonight, I talked to Boss.  Thanks God.  God, we need you.  God, teach Boss and Monica how to love perfectly.  God, I pray that you will guide my best friend to the right path!  My best friend, I support you 100%  God bless you!

I give thanks to God for the sickness again.  In it I learnt patience and compassion for those who are sick.  God, let me have wisdom to learn your will and take good care of my body. 

Here, I¡¦d like to post a couple ideas in C.S. Lewis¡¦s Mere Christianity, which I found v. useful.

1.  Christian Morality:

Morality consists of 3 parts:

¡P         1) Harmony between people (external morality)

¡P         2) Harmony within yourself (internal morality)

¡P         3) Goal of morality (purpose and goal of our life)

Lewis uses an example of sailing a ship to illustrate the 3 parts in morality.

When we sail a ship, we have to avoid collision with other ships (1).  However, we need a good, working engine to avoid collision and therefore sail properly (2).  Yet, it¡¦s not all.  If our destination is Toronto and we sail to Vancouver, we still fail.  Therefore, we need to know our destination (3).

In contemporary world, people almost always focus on (1), but neglect (2) and (3).  They promote harmony and peace among people without any promotion of individual goodness.  It doesn¡¦t work.  Even if we have good rules, we cannot carry the rules out (1) if we do not train our internal morality (2).  We can¡¦t do good without a good, proper soul and character.  On the other hand, even if we become close to perfect in morality, we just fail if we aim at the wrong target.  We need to seek God for (3), no exceptions.  For example, if you live in a house, your living style and responsibility is totally different when you are only a tenant as opposed to you are the owner of the house.  In the same way, your life is totally different when you are ¡§God¡¦s you¡¨ instead of ¡§you¡¨.

No one can ignore and neglect this issue of morality.  It¡¦s not optional.  There¡¦s only one choice- to follow it!  One has to suffer the evil consequence of every single moral mistake, no exceptions! 

Why it might feel hard to follow morality?

1.  You have deviated from the right path.  So when morality drags you back to the right path, you will feel uneasy at first.  E.g. when you turn from sexual immorality to good morality.

2.  You do not yet have the ultimate motivation (3) to carry out morality, even if you have all sorts of intellectual reasons to do it.

2.  Sexual Immorality:

Sexual immorality is due to our sexual instinct becomes sick or malfunctions, instead of the common myth of normal human desire.

Lewis used an analogy of eating to illustrate:

• Sex serves for a purpose- reproduction, just like eating does- refuel energy.  A normal human has an eating appetite a bit more than what he needs to eat.  However, if his appetite is exceedingly more than what he needs, his appetite malfunctions.  Its original good purpose is not met and harmful effects ensue.
• One day you walk into a club room, where a pact of people surrounds a dish of food with watery mouth and extreme excitement.  You know food is abundant everywhere.  Their eating instinct malfunctions.  In the same way, when a pact of people surrounds a naked lady in a strip club, their sexual instinct malfunctions.
• We seldom see people use food for purposes other than eating.  It¡¦s v. weird and even sick to do so.  In the same way, many sexual immorality or sexual perversions are due to a malfunctioning sexual instinct.

Sexual immorality leads a pure love relationship into wickedness.  It simply ruins love.  A barrier is set up between the couple due to their impure hearts.  An original other-focused love turns into a selfish lust, perusing physical, sexual gratification and using your partner (or being used by your partner) as a sex object.

Sex is v. powerful.  If it¡¦s used properly, it can promote great love.  If it¡¦s wrongly used, it can ruin.  It¡¦s like using a sword.  If you do not have enough strength (in this case- ability to love and ability to commit- marriage covenant) and do not receive enough training, you hurt yourself or simply sprain your back.

Do pray to God for help!  He will help you!  Only he is capable to help you!  Do seek help from him!

3.  Judging:

Everyone is from a different background, having different natural predispositions.  In doing good, there are 2 factors:

¡P         (1)Starting from his/her natural point (this is not morality, but nature)

¡P         (2)Decide to do good or not (morality)

Therefore, when, a person, who is brought up in a family where violence and abuse is promoted, forces himself not to beat his girlfriend when she offends him, he might even be doing more than another person, who is brought up in a good, harmonious family, who sacrifices his life for a friend.

Normally, when we judge, we always tend to judge (1) & (2) together.  God doesn¡¦t do that, neither does morality.  It¡¦s (2)!

Therefore, Jesus told us not to judge.  It makes perfect sense, coz if we really are to judge, we have to understand ALL history (1) of that person before we can judge, which is not effective at all.

C.S. Lewis has many good points in Mere Christianity.  It¡¦s v. suitable for non-Christians.  Thanks God for the inspirations.

Darkness.  Utterly darkness.  Only now do I understand what is meant by darkness and why Jesus always says his truth is a light and the world is full of darkness.

I was used to be in darkness.  Back then, I did not know.  Wickedness was celebrated.  Bad morality.

Indeed I would not have known what sin was except through the law.

• Kin + Joe- God, to be frank, among all 7 guys, I worry/concern for Kin most, as his loving relationship seems not that stable.  God, it¡¦s obvious that a loving relationship needs you to be perfect and completely pleasing.  God, I pray that your Holy Spirit can touch them and they come to know you as soon as possible, which is the solution to the problem.  God, let them now your truth and counsel and deliver them from all immoral activities and wicked ¡§friends¡¨ gathering, as they corrupt your soul and ruin your life.  God, it¡¦s desperate.  I pray you will come to help.  God bless Kin and Joe.
• Cat + Sa- God, they have been together for almost 4 years.  I give thanks to you.  God, it¡¦s obvious that if their relationship has to go to the next level, they need to know you, the meaning of life and the goal of life.  God, guide them in your truth and let them know you as soon as possible.  God, protect them from any wicked ¡§friends¡¨ and may they meet some credible Christians and may your Holy Spirit touch them?  God bless Cat and Sa.

It¡¦s interesting, my casual conversation w/ Cat turned into a discussion of religion and God.  Interesting.  God bless Cat and Eliza.

Why is it necessary to know God?  Because, just as when you sail, you need to know your destination, you need to know the meaning and purpose of your life.  If you make blind guesses, you will pretty much end up losing the target and failing your life.  Yes, you most probably will FAIL YOUR LIFE!

Seeing the disastrous tsunami, some verses came into my mind.

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 

But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Unless you repent, you too will all perish!

Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.

Therefore everyone who hears these words of min and puts them into practice is like a wise man who build his house on the rock.

 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house;

 yet it did not fall, because it has its foundation on the rock.

Now, the most important thing is not to mourn for the dead.  It¡¦s WE, who are still alive in this world!  Are we living according to our right purpose?  Are we well prepared to face our death?

The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning,

but the heart of fools is in the house of pleasure.

Have we thought about our death?  Have we thought about God and the consequence of our living? 

The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit (God), from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

Think long term!  Do not be deceived by short term, here and now ¡§fake¡¨ pleasures!  Re-think about our life!  Who knows what will happen tomorrow!

The wage of sin is death!

Repent for the kingdom of heaven is near.

We must think now!  We can¡¦t bear the consequence of our sins, which is eternal punishment in hell.

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. 

When a man found it, he hid it again,

and then in his joy went and sold all he has and bought that field.

I (God) have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

O God, have mercy on us.  Have mercy on us.  God, please restrain your anger.  God, use your Holy Spirit to touch us, so that more people will come to know you God.

Thanks God.  O God, how can I thank you?  When I reviewed the year 2004, I find that, in this short year, your blessings to me are MASSIVE!  God, let me purify myself and live to be a holy sacrifice to you.  May I always be humble, be alert to your Holy Spirit and walk in your truth, as it¡¦s what you delight.  How much I hope to be blameless before you and that your majesty be glorified.  O God, you are BREATHTAKING.  Many things I do not understand.  But God, let me not act on my folly and put disgrace to your holy name and hurt other people.  O God, just a closer walk with me!  Praise the Lord our God, from everlasting to everlasting!

God, let me learn your words (Bible) fervently and serve you Lord and other people fervently!  God, deliver me from the evil one (wicked guys and girls, esp. in the mass media) and let me trust in you and persevere in trails.

J Tonight I did have shared my viewpoint on ¡§what kind of girl do I prefer to be my gf¡¨ to Turtle and Tung.  In terms of appearance and living habits, I do not care much as they are v. superficial.  I can only, really come up with 3 points: I like a girl who:

• values morality
• has a fervent heart in living a wonderful, meaningful life
• whose God is the Lord almighty

Today¡¦s New Year church sermon is on Psalm 33.  Thanks God for the great insight!

Blessed is the nation (man/church) whose God is the Lord,

 the people he chose for his inheritance.

But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,

 on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,

Praise the Lord God almighty.  Thanks God for EVERYTHING!  All things are awesome, wonderful and fantastic!

• HK is so beautiful.  The view in Ocean Park is fantastic.  Thanks God for this wonderful sweet home!
• My cousins Kevin and Yo Yo are so lovely and cute.  Thanks God for creating humans who are created to be lovely and live in your righteousness!  (Everyone, whether you are a few years old or close to 1 hundred, compared to God¡¦s eternity, you are still a baby, still cute in God¡¦s eyes.  Everyone is lovely!)

God, your wonder is beyond my grasp.  God, forgive my foolishness when I became too busy and failed to appreciate your wonders and praise your name!  How great is my sin!  O God, give me wisdom to appreciate and give thanks continually!

O God, I pray for this family- uncle, aunt, and my 2 cousins.  God, how much longer will they take to know you?  God, touch their hearts with the Holy Spirit!  Let them call on you and find you!  Let your will be done.  May they know you and live in your way as soon as possible.  Blessed is the man who walks with God!  Whatever he does prosper and he will never be shaken!

Then I met Cathy in Central.  We went walking around and chatting.  Yes, I did talk about God.  I love to talk about God with my best friends!  For what better gift can I give to my friends than the good news of God?  It¡¦s more precious than my life.  Thanks God for this best friend.  God, I do not know how to talk.  God, I pray that you will touch her with the Holy Spirit.  God, everyone wants a good bf/gf and Cathy is no exception.  God, let her know you because only if you live in us can we love.  God, pour out your grace to Cathy and let her seek you.  God, give her wisdom to clear her doubt about you.  O God, revive the passion of LIFE in Cathy!  I trust in you God!

I met an old friend of mine (a friend of Everest¡¦s brother).  God bless you young man.

So, this is the end of this year, 2004.  What do I think?

First of all, give thanks to God almighty.  I¡¦m truly blessed that I am able to come to you God this year, amen.  I¡¦m v. grateful about that.

A little history of 2004:

January to April (Winter Semester):

Thanks to various philosophers, I¡¦m motivated to re-think more about my life and the functioning of society.  I like Kant¡¦s idea of fulfilling duty no matter how one feels, though, as I later discovered, it was already said more than 2400 years ago in Psalm 15:4.  I like John Mill¡¦s idea of rational discussion of the truth and not blindly accepting what cultures offer.  The more I think about the truth, the more I want to know the whole truth.  Thanks to Rick Warren, as he told me the purpose of Joseph can only be found in his creator.  Thanks God!  I would not have known you if it¡¦s all by myself!  It¡¦s you God.  Thanks God for reaching me!

This year, I developed a closer friendship with my church mate Jane, who later becomes my spiritual partner, together growing fervently in God!  Thanks God!  What a great friend!

In May, I started my epic bike trip to Alaska.  Though I finished early (camping theft) and returned to Vancouver to do more voluntary work in SUCCESS (a Chinese social work organization).  In the bike trip, thanks God that I met a new good friend Andrew, who is a missionary.  (God bless Michael, let him trust in the Lord and have faith!  Never lose your faith in love!  If God is with you, who then is against you!)  God bless you.  In SUCCESS, thanks God that I met Alvin, what a nice friend.  God bless you.  Not to mention all other great people.  God bless you guys.

At that time, I read the Bible everyday.  With uncertainty, I constantly prayed to God, something like, ¡§God, what you say in the Bible is amazing and powerful.  But God, I do not yet have 100% certainty in saying you are my true Lord and putting all my trust on you.  I know it¡¦s not going to work.  I need more than that.  I want a perfect life.  God, I don¡¦t know how to do.  God, help me.  I trust in you (that you will help me)!¡¨

¡§Ask and you will receive. 

Seek and you will find.

Knock and the door will be opened to you.¡¨

God is faithful!  He cares about me (everyone) and leads me to the truth!  Back then, I did not focus a lot on physical evidences like Bible truthfulness, etc (as I did recently, partly due to my outreach to many non-believers and Canada¡¦s secular culture).  Instead, I felt God¡¦s truthfulness and realness in reading his words. 

Then I got baptized on June 20, 2004.

Thanks God!  Right after I baptized (I didn¡¦t realize that until after), God prepared for me a trial (US trip) to sharpen me up!  In the US trip (July-August), the extremely hot weather condition plus busy traveling kept me away from any kinds of athletic training.  I face my identity challenge. 

No one can serve two masters.

Actually, I have realized this need for change long before.  In the past, I always wanted to become a famous mountain biker (normally I spent 3-4 hours everyday training).  I knew it¡¦s not going to work as I¡¦m exalting myself while only serving the Lord with part of my heart.  As in Luke 18:18, I need to make a decision- self-centered or Christ-centered.  Thanks God for the suffering!  But for it, I can¡¦t imagine how I can let go my past perverse identity.

When I came back from traveling in early September, I went to a Gospel camp (Topic- End Time).  I met Pastor Miller Zhang who gave me a lot of inspirations, who further motivated me to serve the Lord.

Are we being a real Christian or a mere ritual Christian?

After the camp, I was basically on fire (Jane too).  I was passionate to be the light and a good testimony of God, so that more people would come to know God through me- to save one more for Jesus.

Then, school started (Fall semester- September to December).  I joined a couple Christian clubs and got involved in some campus ministry, e.g. outreach to students using the 4 spiritual laws.  However, as time goes by, I found that the 4 spiritual laws, which were widely used by Campus Crusade, actually didn¡¦t work well.  In addition, more and more friends of mine asked me about the reasons for my faith.  Therefore, I was motivated to research for information about the Bible and evidence for Christianity.  In this way, it benefited me a lot and increased my basic understanding of God.  Moreover, during this semester, I met a lot of Christians who motivated me a lot.  Thanks God for his guidance.

Finally, at the end of 2004, with God¡¦s great mercy and power, I was able to uproot one thorn in my flesh, a struggle which had been with me for 7 years.  Thanks God.

That¡¦s a v. brief summary of 2004.  Thanks God for all his blessings on me.  May I be your humble servant, always be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and walk in your right path.  Praise the Lord our God!

So, what¡¦s my goal in 2005?

If the Lord is willing, I will live tomorrow and continue to study diligently his words and live a life worthy of my calling.  To be a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God almighty.

What¡¦s my dream or wish for 2005?

I have no dreams or wishes.  I trust in the Lord.  I do pray everyday that more people, especially my family and friends, will be able to experience God and call him Lord.  That¡¦s the best blessing.

God, let your will be done and your glory be declared, amen.

Lord, who may dwell in your sanctuary?  Who may live on your holy hill?

He whose walk is blameless, and who does what is righteous,

who speaks the truth from his heart ,and has no slander on his tongue,

who does his neighbor no wrong, and casts no slur on his fellowman,

who despises a vile man but honor those who fear the Lord,

who keeps his oath, even when it hurts,

 who lend his money without usury, and does not accept a bribe against the innocent.

He who does these things will never be shaken.

Today I stayed home all day, read my Bible, read ?#060;I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">10 Reasons to Trust the Bible?  Then I wrote an introduction of Christianity, which is intended to be used as a presentation to non-Christians.
