MiG 23S Flogger B

I just recently acquired two of these old Esci kits. My next acquisition will probably be the Esci MiG 27 which I have a line on one, but am not letting that slip for fear of it going *poof* like another certain one that I had almost in my hands at another location.

Anyways, I'm not bitter about it ~grumble, piss, moan~

Here's what the contents of the Esci MiG 23 kit look like.

The parts come in two bags with several sprues in the first bag for the main wings and fuselage and one sprue in the second with cockpit and weapons. The weapons aren't all that greatly detailed so this may involve some scribing and pin-vise drilling to make them look realistic. Of course, you may have to go aftermarket for Soviet weapons. Linden Hill Imports is a great place to start looking for such stuff like that. Take it from people who have ordered from them on A.R.C.

Overall, the instruction sheet that one gets with this kit is suprisingly detailed as compared to the detail on the kit which is very basic. It has several blurry (Warsaw Pact-era) pictures that really were all that the model company managed to have to go off of to create this kit.

The decals are very, very basic, even though they cover the details such as the ejector seat warnings and the caution warnings on different sections of the aircraft, interestingly enough (for realism's sake) in Cyrillic. My suggestion would be to go to Linden Hills and try to get a MiG 23 decal sheet that is more current, rather than use these.

More detailed article to come as I commence this build which won't be for sometime yet.
