Black River

of Fire

The sun-kissed sky shows its light

While outlining the darkened trees

And solitude casts its spell o'er all

Not even disturbing the gentle breeze.

And just as it dips its face below

The hills of a distant sphere

It reached down to touch the water

And wash its paint-brushes clear.

And just in that brief instant

As immortal realms transpire

God briefly with his loving hand

Turned the Black River into fire.
