Story:
This issue see Promethea, aka Sophie getting down to some serious studying. Yup that's right kids, in this exciting comic book; we get to go to the library!!! Sophie decides to figure out some more of the history of Promethea. Sophie reads the story of Charles Mamet (sp?), Anyhow he's the author who saw Promethea as his muse back in the 1770s. He wrote a book called the Faerie Romance, and we get a bit of a recounting here. Meanwhile, Barbara, the previous Promethea is slowly dying in a hospital room, her spirit travels to Immateria to keep an eye on Sophie, along with all the other spirits of past Prometheas. Sophie's study time is interrupted though by a weird old magician named Jack Faust, who has some disturbing revelations about Promethea's future. Whatever will become of Sophie, and will she ever really understand her new powers?
I'm not sure how to react to this issue. I guess I understand that the reader needs to eventually catch up on some of the history of Promethea, but I just wasn't all that into the story. Regardless, the Faust character was kinda cool, and this issue wasn't nearly as cheesy on a whole as the last one. I think that at the end of the day ths comic really isn't for me. I like elements of it, but just can't seem to get into the spirit of things. This is the last issue I've got with me, and I'm really not too upset that I don't have any more. I think Moore is a very talented writer and the premise is a decent one; but I guess I'm just not cut out for all this epic fantasy romance stuff. Oh well; that's just the way it is sometimes.
