Hardcore Emo Bands of Canada

Questions:

-How did the bands start/home town?

-What is there style or type of music?

-How they have been doing?

-CD releases, and Shows they’ve played?

-Band name, and Members names?

Another Dark Day started in May, 2003. With Dan MacInally, Tyler Christie and Todd Wilson. The three quickly found two friends nearby with a shared musical vision. Therefore “Another Dark Day” was formed in an attempt to play a mix between hardcore, Emo, and punk. The name “Another Dark Day” was taken from the acronym “A.D.D” they felt it was a good way to describe their outrageous attitude. They are from the scene from Oshawa of southern Ontario, witch also hosts as a home town for many bands including Alexisonfire, Moneen, Silverstien, Boys Night out, and Sum 41. Their influences range from “Taking Back Sunday to Thrice” from “From  autumn to Ashes to Atreyu”; this band is a true mix of musical styles talent and abilities.

They sing with the combination of melodic vocals and Screamo, accompanied by screamo from the other two band members. The lyrics they sing are based on, pain struggle and emotions of past experiences during hardships in there lives. Another Dark Day always finds a way to keep there music unique and interesting.

Ned of the Bush has recently changed there name to “Sylvie”. They are form Regina, SK. “It was high school what else could we do? That’s we we made this band.” Says Joel Passmore (guitarist/vocalist). The band started wile they were in grade 10 and still play today. They began to get serious during 1995. Ned of the Bush is one of the most in-demand bands of the “Queen City”. No other band (Playing original music) plays live as often as Ned of the Bush. Of all there accomplishments, releasing there first album “System-Addict” was the greatest for them. The band states “We’re just going to keep moving forward, tour more, and record more. The last thing I want is to be an old man; sitting in my chair, wondering what would have happened if we’d worked harder.”

Into Eternity is from Regina, SK. In mid ’97 the idea of combining 2 genres of music was on the thresh hold of creation. The band is of 5 musicians with the same goal, all se t forth to create the aggressive, hostile, rhythm attack of “death metal”, with the clean melodic colour of progressive passages, all is accented my atmospheric keyboards, slippery dynamic bass, and powerful drumming.

Into Eternity recorded a 2 song demo. One of the songs “The Modern Day” appeared on a compilation CD, which was released in every major Canadian city. They entered the “Kick start your career” contest in Regina. A hand picked 16 bands of Regina’s best bands, battled it out to find a winner, the band ended co-winner. They also entered the “minasoada classic Rock Weekend” and ended up finalists (witch is not a small feat for a band). Into Eternity also took 1st place out of 16 bands in the “Upstage 1999 Battle of the Bands” competition. There track “Sorrow” was released on a compilation CD through “Garageband.com”, an on-line band war in witch the winner receives $250,000 recording contract. Into Eternity ended up 12 with 2 of there songs. Into Eternity’s music is now being played on most radio a station in Canada and USA, and even Europe.

Alexisonfire, the name is Alexis-on-fire; there is some discussion to whether it’s Alex, or Alexis. The band is based around an impressive blend of turbulent and explosive dynamics with intricate guitar melodies and beautiful singing. Formed in late 2001 as the result of a 3 band break up, five friends; George Pettit(vocals), Wade McNeil(guitar/vocals), Chris Steele(bass), Jesse Ingelevics(drums), and Dallas Green(guitar/vocals) came together to create something that’s become greater than the sum of its parts. Within 3 months of their conception the band had, played their first show and recorded a 3 song demo. Alexis took to the road and it wasn’t long b4 southern Ontario and up state New York picked up on the infectious sounds as well as their clean live performances. Although it was never meant to be more then a demo there first recording sold over 1000 copy’s.At shows one can witness guitars flying violently through the air, bodies colliding in a sea of kids raising there fists and crowd surfing to get hold of the mic.

Well this is Tylan and Mine's Heritage display. We had 2 Amps, a Cd player and a guitar and bass guitar but they are not shown in this picture, thanks.
