37 Movements

Definition: The pen name of the scholar Yi Hwang who taught neo Confucianism. The 37 movements of the pattern refer to his birthplace on 37 latitude.

Starting Position: Closes Ready Stance B facing to D.

1. Turn 90° counter clockwise to B and execute a mid-section left inside block in a right back stance.

2. Move the left foot into a left walking stance towards B and execute a right palm-up low section spear finger thrust.

3. Move the left foot to the right foot into a closed stance facing D and execute a left low section forearm block and right back strike.

4. Turn 90° clockwise to A and execute a mid-section right inside block in a left back stance.

5. Move the right foot into a right walking stance towards A and execute a left palm-up low section spear finger thrust.

6. Move the right foot to the left foot into a closed stance facing D and execute a right low section forearm block and left back strike.

7. Move the left foot towards D into a left walking stance and execute a low section x-block.

8. Execute a twin high section punch while maintaining the left walking stance.

9. Execute a right snap kick towards D, maintaining the hand position.

10. Lower the right foot towards D and execute a right mid-section punch in a right walking stance.

11. Execute a left mid-section punch, maintaining the right walking stance.

12.Pulling the left foot to the right foot into a closed stance turning 90° counter clockwise facing F, execute a twin elbow strike.

13. Turn 90° counter clockwise towards C and execute a W-shaped block in a sitting stance.

14. Turn 180° clockwise towards D and execute a W-shaped block in a sitting stance.

15. Turn 180° clockwise towards C and execute a W-shaped block in a sitting stance.

16. Turn 180° counter clockwise towards D and execute a W-shaped block in a sitting stance.

17. Turn 180° clockwise towards C and execute a W-shaped block in a sitting stance.

18. Turn 180° clockwise towards D and execute a W-shaped block in a sitting stance.

19. Pull the right foot to the left foot and move the left foot towards D into a right back stance while performing a low 2-arm block.

20. Move the left foot into a left walking stance and perform a high section 2-arm grab (to opponent's shoulders.)

21. Perform a mid-section right knee strike while pulling the arms down.

22. Lower the right foot to the left foot and turn 90° counter clockwise towards C to execute a knife hand guarding block in a right back stance.

23. Execute a left mid-section snap kick towards C.

24. Lower the left foot and execute a left high section spear finger thrust in a left walking stance.

25. Moving forwards towards C, execute a knife hand guarding block in a left back stance.

26. Execute a right mid-section snap kick towards C.

27. Lower the right foot and execute a right high section spear finger thrust in a right walking stance.

28. Move the right foot back into a right back stance while performing a left down block and a right back side strike simultaneously.

29. Jump forwards to D and land in a right X-stance while performing a low X-block facing A.

30. Move the right foot towards D into a right walking stance while performing a 2-arm block.

31. Turn 270° counter clockwise and perform low section knife hand block in a right back stance towards B.

32. Perform a low-high inside block towards DF while in a left walking stance facing B.

33. Move the left foot to the right foot and then move the right foot towards A into a left stance while executing a low section knife hand block.

34. Perform a low-high inside block towards DE while in a right walking stance facing A.

35. Turning counter clockwise to B, perform a low-high inside block towards DF while in a left walking stance facing B.

36. Turning clockwise to B, perform a low-high inside block towards DEF while in a right walking stance facing A.

37. Move the right foot into a sitting stance facing D and execute a right mid-section punch. (Kiyap)
