Payroll Downloads (Shareware) from

Anthistle Systems & Programming Ltd.

These are free trial versions of our "Payroll Canada" and "Payroll USA" programs, for payroll processing in Canada and the USA. We also have programs for preparing year end statements of pay for tax purposes: T4 Forms in Canada, and W-2 or 1099-MISC tax forms in USA (these are included in the registered user versions of the payroll systems but are also offered as stand alone programs for companies who have an existing payroll system that does not produce these forms). All are working programs, not demos, and they do not contain any advertising (they are shareware, not adware).

You may try these programs for free (3 months maximum please), but if you like the programs and wish to continue using them you are expected to pay us for them (register).

Download Instructions:

When you click on a download link below, you will be taken to the appropriate download page for that program at an on line program library called Simtel.net You will see the Simtel logo and a worldwide choice of locations to download from. Select a location closest to you. There is no charge for accessing Simtel. If you wish to return to this page after the download click the Back button.

When the download starts your browser will open a dialog box as the file is of a type that cannot be displayed. This gives you the choice of either opening the file or saving it to disk. Be sure to select the save to disk option. Another dialog box will then open to ask you to select a file name and directory. Leave the pre- selected filename alone. The default directory will probably be the browser's own directory (or folder). This will be O.K. but if you have some other directory that you normally use for downloads and prefer to use that directory then change it at that point. You should make a note of the filename and directory (folder) chosen so you can find the file again after completing your internet session and closing the browser.

After the download is complete and you have completed your internet session you can close your browser and disconnect from the net. What you have downloaded is a compressed file archive in .zip format. Before it can be installed the component files have to be extracted from the compressed file archive. Clean up is easier if this is done in a temporary directory. Create a temporary directory (folder) coming from your download directory. To do this in Windows 95 or 98 click Start, Programs, Windows Explorer and when it is running select your download folder in the left hand window, while it is highlighted click on File, New, Folder. Still in the left window click on the + (plus) sign by your download folder so the new folder is visible. In the right window click on the downloaded file to highlight it. Click copy, move the cursor to the new folder in either window and click on it to highlight it then click on paste. You now have a throw away copy of what you downloaded in the temporary new folder, so double click on this folder to make it the active one.

Next you need to run a program that can unzip the component files from the compressed file archive. If the copy of the .zip file you downloaded is displayed in Windows Explorer with an icon OTHER than the default Microsoft Windows icon (a window with 4 panes) then you already have an unzip program and all you need to do is double click on the downloaded file to start your unzip program. If the zip file has the default Microsoft Windows icon (a window with 4 panes) then you first need to download and install an unzip program (see How do I unzip the files ? below). Unzip the file into your temporary new folder. Return to Windows Explorer and if the unzipped files are not already visible click on View, Refresh.

The next step is to install the unzipped programs. This depends on what you downloaded. If it was either of the payroll systems double click on install.bat If it was the T4 Forms or W-2 Forms program double click on setup.exe.

Finally you can save some disk space by deleting your temporary new folder and any files it still contains, in the left window (folders tree) of Windows Explorer just click on the temporary folder to highlight it then click on delete.

"Payroll USA" (W-2 Forms for Windows included in registered vers)

Payroll USA is a fully functional, complete payroll system for one company or multi-company use. Maintains employee database, prints checks (with bank reconciliation) or payslips, summary journal, payroll register, quarterly tax reports, (registered version also does annual W- 2's), and various reports on employees such as birthday list, mailing labels, rotary cards, pay history, etc. Payroll register report can be exported as a .DIF or .DBF (dBASE IV) file for optional additional manipulation in a spreadsheet or DBMS.

Executables are tax year 2000 versions and intuitive to use. Documentation is a few years old. Currently for MSDOS, but has program icons and mouse support and can also be run on any Windows machine. Registration costs US $75.00 per year which includes annual upgrades, federal tax changes, W-2 and 1099Misc forms maintenance, and telephone support. State and local taxes are maintained by the user. We are hoping to have a 32 bit Windows version of this program available for the 2001 pay year (at no extra cost to currently registered users of the DOS program).

W-2 Forms for Windows Only

You do not need to be a user of our Payroll USA system to use this program. Click here if you wish to view a picture of the W-2 entry screen.

Enter and edit company and employee information for printing the annual W-2 employee Wage and Tax Statement forms. Extensive verification of data entry including Social Security and Medicare taxes. Designed for laser printing on new style of W-2 form first introduced for 2001 tax year. You can order the W-2 Preprinted Laser Forms (Traditional 2-up format) locally at larger business stationers (may be best price for small quantities), or from your favorite business forms supplier. Should also work with continuous forms on dot matrix printers (but continuous forms not tested by author). W-2 Continuous Forms must be One Wide, the carbonless Twin Set is probably best. Also prints W-3 Transmittal form (totals to be mailed with the W-2 forms to the IRS), and employee mailing labels (choice of sizes). This is a 32 bit program for use with Windows 95/98/NT. Shareware, unrestricted for 3 month trial then printing becomes limited to two W-2 forms until registered. Also Social Security and Medicare rates used for verification of W-2 entries cannot be extended beyond 2002 tax year unless registered (though program is still usable without verification). Registration costs US$50.00 and is good until next time the IRS change the forms.

How do I unzip the files ?

If you have PKZip for Windows or WinZip already installed on your computer you can use one of those (in this case the downloaded zip file will appear with an icon for one of those programs in Windows Explorer and you can just double click on the zip). If Windows Explorer shows the zip file with the default Microsoft Windows icon (a window with 4 panes) then you first need to download and install an evaluation copy of PKZip for Windows (be cautious some versions of PKZip were adware, but there are also DOS versions on this site), or WinZip (it has won many awards).

There are several shareware libraries on the web where you could obtain a smaller (less features but will do fine to get you started) unzip program. Do not download any that have a .zip extension as you are in a catch22 situation, without an unzip program you cannot open the .zip containing the unzipper. You need a .exe file that can be run to install it, a popular one is www.simtel.net: cuz31.exe (Unzipping (and zipping) made easy. Free) (cuz31.exe is for Windows 95 and above, also available from http://www.camdevelopment.com/cuz.htm)

If the above is not what you are looking for then one place where you can find lots of links to other download libraries is Gary's Shareware and Download Page including some of the larger sites:
