Surf was born in February 1996, to Sonora (A42). When he was born, he joined his matriline consisting of his grandmother Licka, his aunt Havannah, his mom, and her older sister Kelkpa.
Sadly, Surf lost one of his family members very early. Kelkpa died in December, only ten months after his birth.
Sonora was most likely extra careful with Surf, having lost her first calf so soon. The little guy quickly proved to be spunky and energetic.
In 2000-2001, Surf lost his grandma and his two uncles, Top Notch and Foster. Suddenly his family was down to three!
In 2004, Surf gained a little brother or sister, A79.
Surf is now 9 years old. He'll be maturing in a few years, and his fin will spout. Even now, he is much, much bigger than in the ID photo, and his fin is beginning to grow too.
