This is a free event. It is $ponsored and hosted by nearly all Lions Clubs on Vancouver Island. The directing signs start on the main road (hwy) in Duncan, near the Chevron gas station. Periodically, there'll be signs along the way, assuring you haven't gotten lost yet. It's a five min drive off the hwy. All are welcome to watch the musicians, there'll be food concessions, a beer garden, shaded areas. This event is mainly for the benefit of adults with disabilities to enjoy. It's THEIR day, and full of smiles. They look forward to this event every summer. This concert etc is accessable for wheelchairs. The location's like a mansion in the middle of nowhere, with lots of room for free parking and stage performances. Many people with severe disabilities on Vancouver Island have been helped by a Lions Club - hey, this is a chance to see where your/our Van Isle fundraising dollars go. The Special Woodstock day is for families to enjoy. There are Open Houses throughout the summer for families and friends to attend Lions Camp Shawnigan as well. Each Vancouver Island Lions Club sponsors 1+ children with severe disabilities to attend a week of summer camp, geared to their needs. Most of the renovations, etc are maintained by Lions volunteeers. ie: Calling for a paint party in the Spring. Materials are often generously donated and much appreciated.
